Fire destroys teacher's lounge

By Times Staff Writer

BROOKSVILLE - A teacher's lounge at West Hernando Middle School was destroyed by a fire that started in a dishwasher, authorities said.

The fire started about 5:15 p.m. Friday after many of the employees had left the building. By the time firefighters arrived, smoke filled all of the classrooms in the 400 Building, a sheriff's report said. Apparently, the newly installed appliance had been worked on during the day and was left plugged in although it was not hooked up to the water system, the report stated.
