County's property appraiser to undergo open heart surgery

By Times Staff Writer
Published December 10, 2003

Citrus County Property Appraiser Ron Schultz said Tuesday that he soon will undergo bypass open heart surgery.

After noticing shortness of breath while exercising and not being able to keep up with his wife Diann on their mile-long brisk walks, Schultz said he spoke with his physician, who advised him to speak with his cardiologist. He underwent a stress test and heart catheterization, and a blockage was found. Schultz, 64, said he is not in great pain and is optimistic: "The prognosis for me is excellent." He hopes to have the surgery as early as next week and before Christmas. Schultz said chief deputy Melanie Hensley will be in charge at the Property Appraiser's Office.
