Class 4A state football championship

WHO: Armwood (14-0) vs. Lake Gibson (12-2).

WHEN: Thursday, kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

WHERE: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field, University of Florida, Gainesville.

NOTES: This is a rubber match of sorts as Lake Gibson defeated Armwood 17-14 last season in the regional playoffs. Armwood defeated the Braves by the same score in the playoffs two years earlier. ... The matchup pits Lake Gibson coach Keith DeMyer, in his first season with the Braves, against Armwood's Sean Callahan, who is coaching the Hawks for the 14th season. ... Lake Gibson has shown a very potent offense, scoring 190 points in four playoff games. Armwood, which averaged almost 51 points in the regular season, has scored 128 in the playoffs. ... Neither team has appeared in a state title game.


THURSDAY: Class A (Fort Meade vs. Jacksonville Trinity Christian), 1 p.m.

FRIDAY: Class 2A (Madison County vs. Chaminade), 1 p.m.; Class 5A (Naples vs. Mainland), 7 p.m.

SATURDAY: Class 2B (Union County vs. Pahokee), 10 a.m.; Class 3A (Pace vs. Jacksonville Bolles), 3 p.m.; Class 6A (Edgewater vs. Carol City), 8 p.m.

ADMISSION: $8 per game.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-75 north to State Road 24, also known as Archer Road. Go east 2.5 miles toward Shands at the University of Florida teaching hospital, continuing in left lane when the road splits into a "Y" toward SW 16th Ave. Immediately past the Y intersection turn left onto North/South Road. Go to third traffic light and turn right on Stadium Drive where you will be instructed where to park.
