Board names 6 principals in South Tampa

SOUTH TAMPA - On Tuesday, the School Board approved the assignment of six new principals to South Tampa area schools. Effective Wednesday at Stewart Middle School, Barry Davis, assistant principal at Bloomingdale High School, replaces Watts Sanderson, who died Oct. 23. Effective Feb. 2 at Young Middle School, Faychone Durant, principal at Lincoln Elementary, replaces Brenda Thompson, who will retire.
The remaining four appointments were for new schools expected to open next school year. Anthony Perrone, principal at Orange Grove Middle School, moves to Rampello Downtown Partnership on March 1. Rowena Johnson, principal at Project Link, moves to B.T. Washington Elementary School on March 15. Susan Turner, principal at Mintz Elementary School, moves to MacFarlane Elementary Magnet School on March 15. Herbert Peeples, principal at Franklin Middle School, will stay on as the school changes from a neighborhood to a magnet school.
