TAMPA - A Brandon man driving a stolen car led Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies on a short chase on Interstate 75 on Thursday morning before giving himself up, authorities said.
Sheriff's officials said that shortly after 6 a.m., Anthony Jason Mullis, 25, was driving north on I-75 near Gibsonton Drive in a 1994 Ford Probe, which had been stolen from Daytona Beach earlier this week. A deputy clocked Mullis' speed at 90 mph and attempted to pull him over, but Mullis sped away, authorities said. Soon after, he turned east on Interstate 4. He gave up a few miles later at McIntosh Road. No one crashed during the chase and there were no injuries.
When questioned by police, Mullis said he fled because his license was suspended. In addition to driving with a suspended license, Mullis is charged with grand theft auto and fleeing and eluding.
