TAMPA - Tampa police are searching for a man who wrapped a rope around a woman's neck and raped her late Wednesday.

Authorities said the woman was walking home about 11 p.m. Wednesday near the 1600 block of W Waters Avenue when someone approached her from behind, looped a rope around her neck and dragged her to a nearby lot, where he raped her. He then ran away.

The rapist is described as black, about 50 years old, 5-feet-7 and 170 pounds with short hair. He wore blue jeans and an unknown color shirt.
