WW Apple Jax

A hot dog is coming to Derby Lane. WW Apple Jax, a 2-year-old red male who many consider the nation's top sprinter, will race at Derby Lane this season after setting track records at Wheeling Downs in West Virginia and Wichita Greyhound Park in Kansas.

"From all accounts this is one special dog," said Jay Graham, trainer for WW Apple Jax. "He has accomplished quite a bit in a short period of time."

WW Apple Jax created a buzz in May when he broke Flying Train's 1992 record of 30.10 seconds during a schooling race at Wichita. This summer WW Apple Jax set a record with a time of 29.43 in a 5/16ths race at Wheeling.

Wayne Ward Kennel brought its top dog to a warmer climate this winter. WW Apple Jax will have his first schooling race on Tuesday and likely will run his first official race Dec. 20.

"He's been tabbed a superstar and for good reason," Grahame said.
