BRANDON - A 16-year-old boy crashed his girlfriend's car into a McDonald's, landing the car 3 feet inside the restaurant in Brandon.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the boy was driving a 1998 Plymouth Breeze "erratically" in the McDonald's parking lot at 502 W Brandon Blvd. about 2:20 p.m. before he lost control and smashed into the restaurant's southeast wall and window.
Two customers had minor glass cuts, and the boy was taken to Brandon Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, sheriff's Cpl. Danny Tewmey said.
The teen told deputies that he didn't know why he had been driving erratically before the crash, Tewmey said. He was charged with careless driving and driving without a valid driver's license.
The teen's name wasn't released because he is a juvenile, Tewmey said.
