SPRING HILL - A woman was arrested after she was accused of stabbing her ex-boyfriend during a dispute over their recent breakup.

Fatima M. Proctor, 30, of 4667 Crescent Road, was charged with aggravated battery in the alleged attack that seriously injured George W. Williams, a sheriff's report said. She was being held at Hernando County Jail without bail.

Deputies were called to Oak Hill Hospital, where Williams was being treated for scratches to his face and arm and a 5- to 6-inch knife wound on his arm. The lacerations were deep enough to sever muscle tissue and ligaments, doctors said.

Williams told emergency room workers that he was stabbed by a man near the entrance of A to Z Beverage on Deltona Boulevard, but he recanted that story.

Investigators determined that Proctor stabbed Williams with a kitchen knife during a fight after they broke up and she placed his clothes out on the sidewalk on Crescent Road.

Williams was taken by ambulance to Tampa General Hospital, where doctors were attempting to repair his injured arm. His condition was unknown Thursday.
