Preps

Volleyball coach of the year Melanie Humenansky

By EMILY NIPPS
Published December 19, 2003

All of the talent in the world probably couldn't have saved the young and nervous Faith Warriors after they dropped the first two games of the Class A state final against Maitland Orangewood Christian.

Fortunately for them, they had a coach who had nine years of experience and knew exactly how to refocus the Faith Warriors and lead them to win the next three games and the state championship.

Humenansky, a teacher at Ballast Point Elementary, also led Bayshore Christian to a state championship in 1998 and doesn't appear to be finished. With most of the Faith Warriors returning next season, expect to see them aiming for a state championship again.
