GAINESVILLE - Bernice Mosby had game highs of 31 points and 11 rebounds and fueled a game-ending burst that carried Florida 80-63 over George Washington on Monday.

Mosby made 12-of-16 from the floor, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range for the Gators, who have won four straight and matched their win total from last season.

Florida extended its home win streak against nonconference opponents to 23 games.

Valerie Williams' layup with 14:45 left brought the Colonels within 41-40, but Florida made 11 of its next 15 and outscored George Washington 39-23 the rest of the way. Mosby started the run with consecutive baskets to push the Gators' lead to five and finished with 16 points during the burst.

Cathy Joens had 22 points and Ugo Oha added 18 for George Washington, which was coming off wins over then-No. 21 Oregon and then-No. 23 Boston College.

Top 25

NO. 17 LSU 68, TEMPLE 52: Temeka Johnson had 15 points and 12 rebounds as the host Tigers won their eighth straight. Seimone Augustus led the Tigers with 19 points, and Doneeka Hodges added 17 points and eight rebounds. Hodges was carried off the floor with 1:42 left when she slipped and hurt her ankle.

Cynthia Jordan hit a 3-pointer to open the second half to pull the Owls within eight. But the Tigers outscored the Owls 15-2 over the next three minutes.

AP POLL: DePaul had to lose to break into the Top 25. Unranked after winning its first eight, DePaul drew attention with a 96-89 overtime loss to second-ranked Tennessee and entered at No. 22. The Blue Demons (10-1) rebounded from that loss to beat Alabama State and Valparaiso and matched the best start in school history.

"Our players responded to the three or four times Tennessee could have knocked us out," coach Doug Bruno said. "I haven't observed people do that except the UConns of the world. I just wish we could have finished the job and won the game."

UConn continued its seasonlong run at No. 1, receiving 45 of 47 first-place votes. Tennessee, which won at then-No. 13 Oklahoma on Sunday, remained second and received the other first-place votes. The Huskies have led 14 straight polls dating to last season.
