Hot Ticket: Oodles of originality, $7

Published December 25, 2003

Tampa's Pegasus Lounge has vowed to be part of the Tampa Bay area original music scene, and it's making a fine start. On Saturday the club offers an all-day fest of singer-songwriters.

The fest features some of the most interesting musicians from this area as well as Orlando singer Amy Steinberg, above. Steinberg always gains new fans when she brings her spoken word and acoustic tunes, most recently found on Raw Material From the Ethereal, her third studio release, to our neck of the woods. With a live show that's peppered with talk both sexual and spiritual, Steinberg shares whatever gets under her skin. Lorna Bracewell, pictured, from Clearwater, has been part of the local music scene for several years, so it may surprise you that the husky-voiced singer-guitarist is barely out of her teens. Little Miss Obvious, Bracewell's new CD, features a rocking rendition of Amazing Grace.

Also highly recommended: Tampa's Jeremy Gloff. A songwriter of scope, Gloff, depending on his whim, can have you cracking up or breaking down in tears. Gloff is an original, unafraid to show his vulnerability.

Here's the lineup:

1:30 p.m.: Complex Machine

2:40 p.m.: Stacy Halter

3:30 p.m.: Jumping Starfish

4:20 p.m.: Skip Fleming
