Sunday's story by Bruce Lowitt on athletes and charities (For some athletes, charity a part of life's game plan) was very moving and thoughtful. In a time when many athletes seem to have a "look at me" attitude and spend millions on themselves, it's wonderful to know there are people like Val Skinner and Jamie Moyer who care as much (or more) about others as themselves. We need more stories like this.

Gators should accept loss
I can't believe one month after the FSU-UF game, athletic director Jeremy Foley and Gator fans are still whining about the officiating. They never complained when bad calls went against FSU. All UF had to do was stop FSU on fourth and 14, or just stop the Seminoles on the final drive. Hey, Gators, 38-34. Accept it. You, not the officials, lost the game.

Leak over Rix? Not really
Chris Leak over Chris Rix for the state's top QB (Times all-state college team, Thursday) of 2003? Was this selection based on potential? Because it could not have been based on production.
Leak: 2,167 yards, 14 TDs, 10 INTs, 8-4 record (lost to Rix).
