KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Nina Norman scored 18, and Texas coach Jody Conradt tied Tennessee's Pat Summitt for the most career victories as the fifth-ranked Longhorns defeated the No. 2 Vols 70-60 Sunday.
Jamie Carey added 14 points for the Longhorns (11-1), who struggled to take a two-point lead at halftime but never relinquished the lead in the second half en route to their third consecutive win over the previously unbeaten Lady Vols (7-1).
Conradt tied Summitt with 828 career victories.
Tennessee returned to Knoxville after three tough road wins, including two in overtime, but a comeback wasn't possible against the Longhorns.
Texas opened the second half with a 9-4 run and extended its lead to eight before Tennessee rallied.
The Vols, who opened the second half shooting 3-for-13 from the floor, had a 9-2 run midway through the half, keyed by Shanna Zolman's 3-pointer.
Shyra Ely's jumper finished it and cut Texas' lead to 53-52 with 6:57 remaining.
But Heather Schreiber made two free throws, and Carey hit a 3 to cushion the Longhorns' lead.
Reserve Tiffany Jackson scored 13 points with 12 rebounds for Texas, which outrebounded UT 42-27.
The Vols were led by Ashley Robinson's 15 points, and Tasha Butts had 11. Ely, Tennessee's leading scorer, was held to 10 on 5-of-16 shooting.

The Blue Devils (8-1) have won eight in a row after losing their opener to Texas. They opened the second half with a 23-7 run to break it open and cruised. Brittany Hunter, playing in her first game for Duke since knee surgery in November, scored 12 and had nine rebounds.
