A morale booster named Hope
During World War II, I was working on the homefront as a junior hostess at the USO canteen across from Library Park in my hometown of Kenosha, Wis. Many servicemen came in from nearby U.S. Naval Station at Great Lakes, Ill., and also from Fort Sheridan in Waukegan.
