Pinellas digest: 22 fire units respond to 1 pot of burned beans
CLEARWATER -- Residents of a Clearwater Beach condominium burned a pot of black bean soup on Monday. The Fire Department sent 22 units to the call. Neighbors first smelled smoke around noon and phoned the Fire Department. When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the pot already was removed from the stove, and that the kitchen was not ablaze. "Until you know what it is, you have to assume the worst," said Deputy Fire Chief Mark Weinreich. The incident took place on the fourth floor of Clearwater Point Seven condominiums, 851 Bayway Blvd. About 35 people were evacuated. The burned pot caused no damage.
