  • ALLENDER, GRACE, 53, of Homosassa, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River. She came here in 1981 from her native, Savannah, Ga. She was a homemaker and Baptist. Survivors include her husband, Michael; her mother, Mary Doris Bryant, Savannah; a sister, Elizabeth Butler, Ellabell, Ga.; and three nephews.   • JACOBS, STEVEN, 82, of Inverness, died Saturday (Jan. 18, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Born in West Virginia, he came here in 1978 from Irvington, N.J. He was a retired foundry worker for the Crucible Steel Co. of Newark, N.J., and a member of Inverness Eagles Aerie 3992, and Our Lady of Fatima Parish.   • KIEFFER, THEODORE T., 80, of Spring Hill, died Saturday (Jan. 18, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center, New Port Richey. Born in Lafayette, Ind., he came here in 1974 from Walled Lake, Mich. He was a retired advertising manager for Sears Roebuck and Co., owned Scarbo Inn, Walled Lake, and was a member of VFW, Hernando-Pasco County Line. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Ruth; two stepsons, Norman and Kenneth Manning, both of Spring Hill; two stepdaughters, Janice Carpenter, Spring Hill, and Lori Manning, San Diego; a sister, Louise Hanlon, Elm Grove, Wis.; eight grandchildren; and four nieces.   • BRYANT CAROLYN J., 70, of Plant City, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003). She was born in Kittaning, Pa. and moved to the Tampa area in 1957.   • BURKHARD, FRANK L., JR., 76, of Tampa, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003). He was a native of Tampa and graduated from Hillsborough High School, class of 1944. He served in the 4th Marine Division during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve during the Korean War and acted as the VFW post commander. He was an employee of the Tampa Electric Co. for 40 years in the production department. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church and was a Mason. He was known for his talents as a grower of all types of flowers, especially hibiscus.   • GOOSIE, J.C., 73, of Plant City, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003). He was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and moved to the Tampa area 20 years ago. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952. He was a professional golfer with the PGA Tour and owned the Space Coast Golf Tour for 25 years. In 1984 he was inducted into the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame. He was a retired clerk for the City of New York, a Merchant Marine and Navy veteran, was a coxswain on the USS Wicks in the Philipines during World War II and received the Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He retired in 1979 as an auctioneer and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Unity Church of Clearwater. She retired as a secretary after 12 years with Denville Associates. She previously worked for the Redmond Press and the Denville Town Hall, and served in the 1970s as a councilwoman.     • CROSSWELL, IVOR K., 66, a winter visitor to Palm Harbor, died Friday (Jan. 17, 2003) in Clearwater. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and came here annually from Toronto. He was a retired certified accountant. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. After leaving the Navy, he served in the Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a senior master sergeant in 1964, and then was an investigator for the Department of Defense for 20 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gulfport, United Methodist Men, the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, the VFW and American Legion lodges in Madeira Beach, the OES of St. Petersburg and the Shriners.
