ASHER, WINIFRED MARION, 89, of Lecanto, formerly of Coral Springs, died Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003) in at her daughter's home in Lecanto under the care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Providence, R.I., she came here in 1973 from Long Island, N.Y. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Fallon and Janet M. BURKE, BILLIE J., 75, of Homosassa, died Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003) in Crystal River. Born in Saginaw, Mich., he came here in 1989 from Bay City, Mich., where he was an ops supervisor for Consumer Power Co. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Sugarmill Woods Country Club and its Men's Golf Association. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Jane Cates; two sons, Stephen M., Bay City, and Timothy S., Port Charlotte; a foster son, Mario Diaz, Saranac, Mich.; two brothers, Donald and Edward, and a sister, Barbara Marko, all of Michigan; and two grandsons. GREENDALE, EMILY, 96, of Inverness, died Friday (Jan. 24, 2003) at Highland Terrace of Inverness. She came here in 1972 from her native Long Island, N.Y. She worked in the claims department of the New York Life Insurance Co. for several years and was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church of Inverness. HALING, JEAN A., 66, of Lecanto, died Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003) at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River. Born in Chicago, she came here 14 years ago from Milwaukee. She retired from Wisconsin Electric and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary. She was Lutheran. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Haling Sr.; a son, Kenneth Haling Jr., Elkhorn, Wis.; two daughters, Deborah Gatzke, Lecanto, and Janice Glidewell, Albany, Ky.; five brothers, William and Donald Haling, both of McHenry, Ill., Dennis Haling, Cheyenne, Wy., Jeffery Haling, Kenosha, Wis., and Dwight Poggensee, New Mexico; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. KNIGHT, DONALD ALLEN SR., 71, of Crystal River, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at Monroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. Born in Richwood, W.Va., he came here in 1985 from Warren, Ohio. He was a retired artist cutter for General Motors and was a member of Grace Bible Church of Homosassa. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Delores Charlene (Phillips); a daughter, D. MURPHY, CAROLE L., 64, of Inverness, died Sunday (Jan. 26, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Born in Arlington, Mass., she came here in 1989 from Lowell, Mass. and was a homemaker. VANDERVEER, WILLIAM H., 85, of Homosassa, died Sunday (Jan. 26, 2003) at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River. Born in Paterson, N.J., he came here 17 years ago from Franklin Lakes, N.J. He was a baker in the restaurant industry. He was a member of the Sugarmill Woods Golf & Country Club, a 25-year member of the West Citrus Elks Lodge and a member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church. WIMBISH, WILLIAM THEODORE, 76, of Homosassa, died Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Americus, Ga., he came here six years ago from Atlanta and was a retired electronics industry manufacturer's representative. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruthie (Camp); a son, William T. She was a retired secretary for her family owned heating and plumbing company. She was Catholic. GORE, KENNETH M. JR., 51, of St. Petersburg, formerly of Tampa, died Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003) at Tampa General Hospital. He was born in Jacksonville and moved to St. Petersburg three weeks ago from Tampa, where he attended Mount Calvary Deliverance Church. He was assistant pastor at High Point Baptist Church in Macon, Ga. A professional musician, he played guitar with the F.L.A. Band, which performed around Central Florida, and wrote many of its compositions. TAYLOR, JOHN C., 91, of Tampa, died Thursday (Jan. 23, 2003) at University Community Hospital. Born in Chelsea, Mass., he moved to the Tampa area in 1966 from Philadelphia. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. He retired from the Esso Company as an account executive after 31 years. He was an instructor with the Valley Forge Military Academy. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the POW Association. He was a quartermaster and a member of the VFW Post 7987. MARSHALL, JAMES T. "JIM," 80, of New Port Richey, died Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003) at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Born in Pittsburgh, he came here in 1983 from Annandale, Va. He was a professional musician and in his twenties played trombone with Ziggy Elman and Bobby Sherwood. He was an Army veteran with the 379th Army Service Forces Band in Newport News, Va. He worked for the Department of the Army from 1955 to 1982, continuing his music as an avocation until November 2002. He played with the Gene Donati Orchestra in Washington, D.C., including at inaugural balls and the White House. He backed up Frank Sinatra and Pearl Bailey, among others. McCOLLUM, JOHN T. JR. "JACK," 77, of New Port Richey, died Saturday (Jan. 25, 2003) at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. Born in Louisville, he came here in 1981 from Ashland, Ky. He was a civil engineer with Ashland Inc., in Covington, Ky., and was a graduate of the University of Louisville. He was a retired Army veteran, achieving the rank of chief warrant officer four and serving in World War II. He was Christian. Born in Granville, N.Y., he had been a winter resident here for 11 years from Tupper Lake, N.Y. He was a retired educator with the New York State Public School System. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of the State University of New York with a bachelor's degree and a graduate of New York University, New York City, with a master's degree in education. He served on the Board of Education of Tupper Lake for four years and was registrar at Paul Smith's College. He was an Eagle Scout and served on the Executive Committee for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Lions Club and St. David Welsh Society. He attended the First Baptist Church of Holiday.
