  • CAPEN, BERNARD E., 85, of Homosassa, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at Brentwood Health Center in Lecanto. Born in Douglas Township, Ill., he came here in 1982 from Oak Park, Ill.   • MOORE, CHARLES E. JR. "CHARLIE," 53, of Floral City, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. He came here 29 years ago from his native Miami. He began his law enforcement career with the Inverness Police Department. He continued with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office as a sergeant and retired from the Citrus County Sheriff's Office as a lieutenant with 18 years of service. He was the firearms instructor for Withlacoochee Technical School for 17 years. He was Baptist. Survivors include his wife of 28 Years, Peggy (Rouse); a son, Andrew, Floral City; two daughters, Lisa Konupka, Tunica, Miss., and Katie Raml, Floral City; and two brothers, Larry Burnett and Howard Moore, both of Ocala.   • BLANN, ALTA M., 89, of Republic, Mo., formerly of Brooksville, died Sunday (Jan. 26, 2003) at home. She was born in Rome, Pa., and was a retired ratings analyst. She was a charter member of Fellowship Wesleyan Church of Spring Hill. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Pfifer, Las Vegas, and Martha Payton, Republic; a sister, Ardath Davie, Spencer, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.   • HEUBACH, DAVID "LES," 95, of Brooksville, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville. Born in Harriston, Ontario, he came here in 1968 from Elmira, Ontario. He was a retired salesman of farm machinery. Survivors include three daughters, Keitha Conrad and Myrna Schmalz, both of Elmira, and Jan Ellis, Saskatoon, Ontario; a son, Leonard, Kitchener, Ontario; a brother, Edward, Kelowna, British Columbia; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.   • KNETL, CHARLES EDWARD, 84, of Brooksville, died Sunday (Jan. 26, 2003) in Spring Hill. Born in Chicago, he came here 28 years ago from Berwyn, Ill. He was a retired expeditor for Sears & Roebuck Co.. He was an Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of the High Point Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the High Point Homeowners Association and a member of the High Point Golf Association. He was a member and lecturer at St. Anthony Catholic Church and a member of its Men's Club. Survivors include three nephews, Larry Slajchert, Caldwell, N.J., Michael Slajchert, Chicago, and Richard Slajchert, Brooksville; and a niece, Marianne Slajchert, Rochelle, Ill. Born in Erie, Pa., he came here in 1994 from Hialeah. He was a maintenance man in the construction industry and was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and participated in the Algeria Campaign and Rhineland Invasion.     • COTON, H. RICHARD, 71, of Clearwater, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 2003) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Schenectady, N.Y., and came here after he retired in 1991 from Albany, Schenectady, Schoharie Board of Cooperative Educational Services). He taught more than 24 years in the Schenectady School District. He also was a plumbing inspector for the town of Rotterdam. He was a member of local 105 Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union, and a former director of the union's apprenticeship program. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara J. Vanyo, Schnecksville, Pa., and Laurie A. Brazell, Rotterdam; a son, Richard L., South Pacific; a sister, Ruth Carter, Mission Viejo, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She came here in 1979 from her native Chicago, where she retired as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Largo.     • LAWRENCE, BRYAN, 68, of Clearwater, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Mottisfont, England, and came here in 2002 from Norwalk, Conn. He retired after 26 years as electrical foreman for the Metro North Railroad, Stamford, Conn. He was a British Merchant Marines veteran. He was a member of Airline Railroad Supervisors Association. His interests included wood carving, painting, gardening, boating, hockey and golf. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Dale; a son, Andrew, Clinton, British Columbia; two sisters, Janet Olsen, Tazmania, and Rosaline Lawrence, England; a brother, Allen, England; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She retired in 1986 after 15 years as sewing room supervisor for Morton Plant Hospital. She was a member of the Largo Cracker Quilters Club. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Walter R.
