ABELE, FREDERICK CHARLES III, 84, of Beverly Hills, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at Brentwood Health Care Center of Lecanto. He came here in 1988 from his native New York City. He retired from the State of New York Legal Department with 20 years of service and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nettie Chernik; a daughter, Fredericka Leitner, Coram, N.Y.; a brother, Charles F., Oswego, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Chas. E. BLAIR, BERNICE H., 96, of Homosassa, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) in Crystal River. Born in Enfield, N.H., she came here in 1992 from South Portland, Maine. She was a homemaker and a member of Ladies of Sugarmill Woods and Faith Baptist Church of Homosassa. Survivors include two daughters, F. Anne Colucci, Homosassa, and Laurel M. CARPENTER, ANNA-MARY, M.D., 87, of Inverness, died Tuesday (Feb. 4, 2003) in Inverness. Born in Ambridge, Pa., she came here in 1992 from Merrillville, Ind. She received a bachelor's degree from Geneva College, master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, and her medical doctor degree from the University of Minnesota. She was a professor and medical researcher who retired after 50 years of service. She retired as professor of pathology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She was the author of Human Histology: A Color Atlas and received several awards from Geneva College. She was a member of the Republican Party and a member of Zion Lutheran Church. DAVIES, VIRGINIA MARGARET, 74, of Homosassa, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) in Lecanto. Born in Chicago, she came here in 1991 from Bensenville, Ill. and was a homemaker. She was Catholic. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Milton Lloyd; two sons, Milton Michael, Villa Park, Ill., and Timothy John, Chicago; a brother, Robert Meagher, Bensenville; and a sister, Alice Furlan, Harwood Heights, Ill. GEYER, SCOTT BERRY SR., 61, of Hernando, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Born in Rochester, N.Y., he came here in 1997 from Paddock Lake, Wis. He was vice president of sales and marketing for Tri-Clover Inc., Kenosha, Wis. He was a member of International Association of Food Industry Suppliers, 3A Sanitary Standard and Practices, and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineers. He was past vice president of Citrus Hills Civic Association board of directors and was a member of Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Frances; two sons, Scott Jr., Memphis, and Michael, St. Michael, Minn.; his mother, Edna, Payson, Ariz.; a sister, June Crandall, Rochester; and two grandchildren. PRICE, BRENDA F., 51, of Homosassa, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at home. Born in Ellijay, Ga., she came here 45 years ago from Indiana. She was self-employed in the welding business, and was a member of the Elks Auxiliary Homosassa and Moose Lodge Auxiliary Crystal River. She was Baptist. SHAPIRO, FRANCES SLOMAN, 85, of Beverly Hills, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) in Crystal River. She came here in 1977 from her native Brooklyn, N.Y. and was a homemaker. She was Jewish. Survivors include two sons, Harold David, Woodmere, N.Y., and Steven Glenn, Gaithersburg, Md.; a sister, Beatrice Gorodetzky, Hallandale; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. STRIBLEN, RICHARD L., 82, of Beverly Hills, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) in Beverly Hills. Born in Chicago, He came here in 1994 from Schaumburg, Ill. He owned a houseware sales company and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Citrus County Marine Corps League, Citrus County Model Railroad Club, American Legion, Nesbitt VFW Post 10087, and Beverly Hills Community Church. TILLEY, GLADYS MAE, 90, of Lecanto, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) at Life Care Center in Lecanto. Born in Grady County, Ga., she came here 24 years ago from Largo. BROOKS, JOHN E., 77, of Brooksville, died Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) in Brooksville under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. Born in New London, Conn., he came here in 1983. He retired from General Dynamics and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Elks, Moose Lodge, VFW Hernando Beach, American Legion, North American Fishing Club, Good Sam Club, FMCA and the NRA. He was Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, John, Fort Lauderdale, and David, Salem, Conn.; two daughters, Mary, Leesburg, and Arlene, Georgia; three brothers, Richard and Tom, both of Connecticut, and Everett, Omro, Wis.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. GIESELMAN, CAROLINE, 89, of Spring Hill, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she came here 21 years ago from Islip, N.Y. MacALPINE, HARRY E., 73, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville. Born in Somerville, Mass., he came here 20 years ago from North Reading, Mass. He was a mechanic for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority with 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Spring Hill VFW and DAV Brooksville. McFARLAND, EUGENE R., 98, of Spring HIll, died Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in Cleveland, he came here seven years ago from Ohio. He retired as a welder for Union Carbide Corp., Ohio, was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was Evangelical by faith. Survivor include two sons, James, Vista, Calif., and Robert, Avon Lake, Ohio; two daughters, Lenore Christman, Spring Hill, and Grace Oliver, Seabrook, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. MARSHALL, D. LLOYD, 84, of Spring Hill, formerly of Pinellas Park, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) at home. Born in Henderson, Ky., he came here 10 years ago from Pinellas Park. He retired as an aerospace technician for Honeywell of Pinellas Park with 25 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Minn Reg of Honeywell Pinellas Park and was a member of Northcliffe Baptist Church of Spring Hill. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Grace; three sons, Dr. Ronald L. Marshall, Melbourne Beach, Dr. Thomas L. Marshall, Brooksville, and Dr. William E. PAZELLI, MARIA B., 90, of Brooksville, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at Guardian Angel Care, Brooksville. Born in Milan, Italy, she came here 30 years ago from Philadelphia. PULLINGER, GEORGE A., 81, of Brooksville, died Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) at home. He came here 13 years ago from his native Long Island, N.Y. and was a retired delivery driver. He was Catholic. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Big Red One Company and was a member of Brooksville DAV 97. ALLEN, ROBERT P. SR., of Tampa, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003). Born in Jersey City, N.J., he moved to the Tampa area 14 years ago. He was a Vietnam veteran who received the Purple Heart. BOLES, RUBY NELL, 73, of Plant City, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003). Born in Nashville, Ga., she was a longtime resident of the Tampa area. BUFFINGTON, GEORGE THOMAS SR., 78, of Holiday, formerly of Tarpon Springs and Tampa, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003). Born in Chelsea, Mass., he moved to Tampa in 1977, to Tarpon Springs in 1995 and to Holiday in 1996. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a shipfitter at a naval ship yard. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Iris; a daughter, Wendy Buffington, New Port Richey; two sons, George Buffington Jr., Tampa, and Steven Hickman, Eastbourne, England; three sisters, June Fields and Sister Thomas Joseph, both of Revere, Mass., and Lilla Harvey, Saugus, Mass.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. SAVAGE, CHARLES D. SR., 68, of Tampa, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003). Born in Detroit, he moved to the Tampa area in 1967 from Dearborn, Mich. He was an attorney, working for McClintock, Fulton, Donovan & Waterman of Detroit, and Price Waterhouse of Tampa as a CPA before opening a private practice, specializing in taxation. He was an Army veteran, a former member of the Interbay Sertoma Club, Tampa, and was Protestant. WOLFSON, SUE, 94, of Clearwater, formerly of Tampa, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at Menorah Manor. Born in Poland, she moved to Clearwater in 1979 from Tampa. She was a financial adviser with IDS for 35 years, was a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Tampa, for 30 years, and Temple B'nai Israel, Clearwater. BASS, PHILIP JOSEPH, 86, of Port Richey, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) at Tandem Health Care of Bayonet Point. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here 20 years ago from Carmel, N.Y. He owned a bait shop and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Commander Seabees Island, Knights of Columbus and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Muriel; two sons, Robert C., Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Donald W., Wesley Chapel; a daughter, Barbara A. He was a tool and die maker for Ford Motor Co. and a member of United Auto Workers Retirees. He was a member of the Polish-American Social Club, Hudson, and St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. She retired after co-owning Hugo's Furniture Store, Holiday, for 42 years. She was a graduate of the New York City School of Interior Design and was a member of Unity Church of Port Richey. He was a supervisor in the meat packing industry and was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Stern DE 187. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was Lutheran. GIZELBACH, ANTHONY L. "TONY," 65, of Holiday, died Sunday (Feb. 9, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, New Port Richey. Born in Wapwallopen, Pa., he came here 10 years ago from Nanticoke, Pa. He was an electronics mechanic for RCA/Thomson and former president I.U.E. Local 178, both of Dunmore, Pa. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, was a past commandant and lifetime member of Marine Corps League 567 Holiday, and a lifetime member of NCOA Gateway Chapter. He was a member American Legion Post 173, AMVETS Post 98, Elks Lodge 109, Knights of Columbus Council 6476 Holiday, and Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She came here in 1958 from her native Warsaw, Ind., and attended St. Petersburg Junior College, Clearwater campus. She retired from Pinellas County government after 18 years as a deputy clerk in the probate division of Circuit Court. She was instrumental in the formation of the Guardianship Association of Pinellas County. She represented the Probate Court at the group's monthly meetings for several years, and contributed to the organizations's Handbook for Guardians and to the program of seminars at SPJC for the training of guardians. While overseas with her husband, she was president of the Officers Wives Club and was involved in programs to assist and organize orphanages in Germany and Japan. She was a member of St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church of Largo, where she was an active member of the choir, the Altar Guild and the ECW Episcopal Church Women. She belonged to Soroptimist International of Clearwater, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Warsaw.
