  • HAMILTON, CHARLIE LEON "BILL," 72, of Citronelle, died Tuesday (Feb. 11, 2003) at home. Born in Jefferson County, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a retired farmer and a member and deacon at the Citronelle Baptist Church.   • PATTERSON, JAMES E. "PAT," 89, of Clearwater, formerly of Crystal River, died Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) at home under hospice care. Born in North Dakota, he moved to Florida in 1957 from Miami and lived in various Florida cities, working as a parts manager with Ford Motor Co. He moved to Clearwater three years ago from Crystal River. He was an Army veteran and a member of DWBCCI Wally Byam Caravan Club. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Sara; a daughter, Cheryl Peterson, Galesburg, Ill.; two stepsons, Robert Ignico and Vincent Ignico; two stepdaughters, Grace Ignico and Arlene Ignico; a grandson; six stepgrandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild. Born in Joliet, Ill., he came here nine years ago from Wisconsin, where he retired from the Hartland-Lakeside school district. He was a member of the Hudson Rotary and the Gulf Coast Homing Pigeon Club. He was Catholic. He was vice president of William H. Welch Electronics and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Brooksville Golf & Country Club, Elks Lodge 2582 and Knights of Columbus 6800.   • LESTER, DAVID DONALD, 73, of Gainesville, formerly of Tampa, died Saturday (Feb. 8, 2003) in Gainesville. Born in Tampa, he moved to Gainesville in 1970 from Winter Haven. He was the founder of Lester's Garage Doors and Gates Elegante He attended Porter Military Academy in Charleston, S.C., graduated from Winter Haven High School and attended the University of Florida. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, worked in the insurance industry for 12 years, was past president of the Florida Association of Health underwriters and was the former owner of the Volcano Restaurant in Winter Haven. In 2001 Gainesville Homebuilders established the Don Lester award. He was past state chairman of Jaycee membership committee, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6108, was deputy grand knight and past chairman of St. Patrick's Parish Council. He was an inspector for the Navy and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Holiday VFW Post 10167, Italian Club of New Port Richey and Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
