MAYS, JOHN C., 89, of Homosassa, died Sunday (Feb. 16, 2003) in Homosassa at his daughter's home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He came here in 1959 from his native Bloomington, Ill. He did experimental research and was an inventor who held held 17 patents. He was national champion of Sports Car Club of America, driving his own manufactured fiberglass sports car. Survivors include two sons, David, Pinellas Park, and William, Soddy, Tenn.; three daughters, Sandra Fodi, Weaverville, N.C., Lauren Warren, Homosassa, and Carol Blackwood, Asheville, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. QUATTRONE, FILOMENA SERPICO, 82, of Beverly Hills, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) in Hernando. Born in Newark, N.J., she came here in 1973 from Brooklyn, N.Y. She was an executive secretary for the New York Department of Education. She was a member of Beverly Hills Sunshine Club, Citrus Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary (Pink Ladies), Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Mario A.; two daughters, Barbara Lauster, Somerset, N.J., and Diane Carroll, Sparta, N.J.; a sister, Delores Gee, St. Petersburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. STANTON, SCOTT, 38, of Chiefland, formerly of Crystal River, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) in Lecanto as a result of a motorcycle accident. Born in Fort Chaffee, Ark., he came to Florida 22 years ago from Birmingham, Ala. He was the manager at Florida Oxygen and Home Medical. He was Protestant. Survivors include two daughters, Kristin Elizabeth Stanton and Bethani Sandra Stanton, both of Lecanto; his father, Morris, Crystal River; his mother, Sandra Johnson, Ohio; a brother, Wes, Crystal River; and two nephews. WISWALL, WILLIAM A., 85, of Inverness, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) at Avante of Inverness. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here five years ago from Stroudsburg, Pa. He was a retired machinist and an Army veteran of World War II. He was Catholic. CARTER, MICHAEL B., 58, of Brooksville, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he came here seven years ago from St. Petersburg. He was a truck driver for Allied Van Lines and was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 186 and VFW Post 10209. Survivors include three sons, Karl, Celina, Ohio, Michael E., and Charles M., both of Brooksville; two daughters, Jennifer Carter, Columbia, Ky., and Michelle Homan, Minister, Ohio; two brothers, Robert K., Spring Hill, and James D. ELLERBROCK, EMILY D., 81, of Spring Hill, formerly of Tarpon Springs, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in Detroit, she came here 13 years ago from Tarpon Springs. She was a member of the Hernando Beach Club, the Ladies Guild of Hernando Beach, and attended St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Norman; a daughter, Sharon M. ERICKSON, CLYDE G., 89, of Spring Hill, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Spring Hill Health Center. Born in Blue Island, Ill., he had been a winter resident here for nine years from Minocqua, Wis. He was a retired accountant in the printing industry, a member of National Association of Cost Accountants and National Office Management Association. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Spring Hill. HEBERT, LAURENT S., 70, of Brooksville, died Friday (Feb. 14, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville. Born in Ascot Corner, Quebec, he came here 10 years ago from Tupperlake, N.Y. He was a truck driver and the owner and operator of Hebert Trucking. SCHLAEFKE, ALBERT JULIUS, 85, of Spring Hill, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in Davenport, Iowa, he came here 18 years ago from Aitkin, Minn. COLLIER, CAROLYN W., 90, of Tampa, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003). Born in Ellenton, Ga., she moved to Tampa in 1924 from Lakeland. HAVEKOTTE, DOROTHY L. EDENFIELD, 70, of Merritt Island, formerly of Tampa, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003). Born in Tampa, she moved to Merritt Island in 1968. She graduated valedictorian from Jefferson High School in 1949 and was senior secretary for Pan American World Airways and EG & G Florida at Kennedy Space Center. HEROLD, MARY MIKE, 77, of Plant City, died Saturday (Feb. 16, 2003) in Brandon. Born in Cairo, Ga., she was a longtime resident of the Tampa area and was a homemaker. ISHAK, GHANIM, 77, of Tampa, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003). He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. MAGGIO, DOMINICK VALENTI, 79, of Tampa, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003). A native of Tampa, he was a graduate of Hillsborough High School. He was an Army sergeant in World War II. He attended the University of Tampa, and became a store manager in home furnishings for Sears, later moving to Maas Brothers. He moved to California in 1964 to become the assistant general manager of Leisure World, before starting his own floor covering business. He moved back to Tampa in 1970, working as an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance. Later, he opened D. Maggio & Sons, operating until the late 1980s. Survivors include his wife, Irene Maggio; four sons, Michael F., Tampa, Dominick F., Boca Raton, I. McKILLEN, MARY SKENE, 63, of Brandon, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003). Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she moved to the Tampa area in 1986 from Santa Rosa, Calif. She was a real estate agent and a member of the Tampa Bay Board of Realtors. YOUNG, FLOYD EARL, 47, of Brooksville, formerly of Ybor City, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Born in Ybor City, he moved to Brooksville in 1981 from Houston. Prior to becoming disabled, he worked for Florida Crushed Stone. He was involved in community work, especially with underprivileged schoolchildren. He was named Volunteer of the Year in 2001 by the Hernando County Schools. He was president of the PTA and on the School Advisory Committee at Brooksville Elementary School. He was a former governor of Moose Lodge 1676, Moose Legion Cypress 202, and Eagles Zephyrhills. MANN, JOHN WILLIAM SR., 94, of Jacksonville, formerly of New Port Richey, died Sunday (Feb. 16, 2003) at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he moved to New Port Richey 30 years ago from Mount Vernon, N.Y., then moved to Jacksonville four years ago. He was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church, New Port Richey. MOON, OMRI "SKIP," 83, of New Port Richey, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Life Care Center, New Port Richey. Born in Winnsboro, Texas, he came here 22 years ago from Warner Robins, Ga. He retired from the Navy, where he was an aviation chief petty officer. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a cowboy on the King Ranch and XI Ranch in Texas. She was born in Webster, N.Y., and came here in 1997 from New Port Richey. She worked as a dietitian and was a member of First Baptist Church of New Port Richey. - WHITE, RUTH ESTELLE, 94, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Egret Cove Center. Born in Jersey City, N.J., she came here in 1969 from Port Washington, N.Y. She graduated from Teachers College and taught elementary school and later worked for Publishers Clearing House on Long Island. Survivors include a daughter, Judith Rutledge, St. Pete Beach; a grandson, Stephen Dantzscher, St. Petersburg; a granddaughter, Carol South, Brooksville; and three great-grandchildren. - DURRICK, IRENE M., 79, of Seminole, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at home. She was born in Latham, N.Y. She was a homemaker and came here in 1995 from Troy, N.Y. She was Catholic. Survivors include four sons, Daniel J. Durrick, McKinney, Texas, George T. Durrick, Seminole, Michael J. Durrick, Halethorpe, Md., and Michael T. Durrick, Niskayuna, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. E. James Reese Funeral Home & Crematory, Seminole.
- RAUNEC, JOSEPHINE, 82, of High Bridge, N.J., formerly of Seminole, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at home. Born in Bayonne, N.J., she came here in 1990 from Branchburg, N.J., and moved to High Bridge in 2002. She was a clerk at the Rahway (N.J.) Hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in High Bridge and St. Justin Martyr Church, Largo. Survivors include a son, Robert Raunec, North Syracuse, N.Y.; two daughters, Kathleen Skorynko, Las Vegas, and Dianne George, High Bridge; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. E. - TERRELL, MARY L., 92, of Seminole, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Largo Medical Center. Born in Newfoundland, she came here in 1989 from Lakewood, Colo. She was a secretary and was Episcopalian. Survivors include two nieces, Joan S. Morewood, Seminole, and Jacqueline Mattews, Reston, Va.; two nephews, John Lockyer, Spring Hill, and George Lockyer, Bennett, Neb. National Cremation Society, St. Petersburg.
