  • CAMPBELL, WALTER L., 72, of Beverly Hills, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Born in Alta Vista, Kan., he came here in 1997 from Milford, Ohio. He was an Air Force veteran, achieving the rank of sergeant, and was a member of the American Legion. He was a retired machinist for Multifold International, Milford. Survivors include his wife, Judith L.; a son, Rickey, Milford; a daughter, Sherri Weinman, Baltimore; two sisters, Adele Hogan, San Francisco, and Joy Simmons, Manhattan, Kan.; two brothers, Keith, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sammy Campbell, Manhattan; and four grandchildren.   • DePINA, GEORGE, 76, of Floral City, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Born in Albany, N.Y., he came here in 1978 from Fort Lauderdale. He retired from the Navy with 20 years of service. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He was former president and a member of the Floral City Water Board. He was past master, secretary and district deputy grand master of Floral City Masonic Lodge. He was member of OES Chapter 65, Amaranth Crystal Court 45, DeMolay, and was a Rainbow Girls adviser and a life member of DAV. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth J.; a daughter, Dawn Klug, Floral City; two sons, James J., Wake, Va., and Richard A., Asheville, N.C.; a brother, James, Bridgeport, Ill.; two sisters, Louise Sanchez, Tobyhana, Pa., and Janet Burgose, Phoenix; and three grandchildren.   • FARRER, NORMAN C., 79, of Homosassa, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) in Homosassa. Born in New Brunswick, he was a seasonal visitor from Amesbury, Mass. He was a veteran of the Canadian Army, serving in World War II. He was Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Steeves); two sons, Stephen, Danvers, Mass., and Michael, Wisconsin; two daughters, Lila Zanuccoli, Maine, and Susan Esther Russo, Massachusetts; six granddaughters; a great-grandson; and a great-great-granddaughter.   • HEATER, ANNA M., 78, of Homosassa, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) in Crystal River. She came here in 1989 from her native New Jersey and was a homemaker. She was an Episcopalian. She was a homemaker and attended Crystal River Foursquare Gospel Church. Survivors include a son, William H.   • LEITCH, VIRGINIA S., 79, of Inglis, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River. Born in Memphis, she came here 16 years ago from St. Petersburg, where she had lived for 44 years. She was a retired health food store manager and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony the Abbott Mission of Inglis. Survivors include four sons, Patrick Leitch, Inglis, Bill Baker, Lempster, N.H., Mike Leitch, St. Petersburg, and Tim Leitch, High Springs; a daughter, Barbara Duranleau, Portala, Calif.; a brother, Edgar Sweeny Jr., Eutawville, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.   • MURRAH, HOWARD ELWOOD, 68, of Inverness, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Hopkins County, Ky., he lived here for several years after moving from Madisonville, Ky. He was employed in research and development for Pure-Pack Corp. and was a 47-year member of Shaw Masonic Lodge 608.   • O'BRIEN, EDWARD JOHN "BUD," 85, of Inverness, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Chicago, he came here in 1980 from San Mateo, Calif. He was a retired supervisor with United Airlines with 17 years of service. He was a 22-year Air Force veteran, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. He served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, Inverness Golf & Country Club and Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Survivors include his wife of nine years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Caldwell); a son, Terry, Temecla, Calif.; and a daughter, Barbara O'Brien, Southwest Harbor, Maine. Chas. E.   • SMITH, MARGARET ANN, 52, of Homosassa, died Sunday (Feb. 16, 2003) in Homosassa. Born in Covington, Ky., she came here in 2000 from Dayton, Ky., and was a homemaker. She was a Jehovah's Witness. Survivors include three sisters, Violet McGlove, Homosassa, Claudine Foster McIntire, Dayton, and Mary Smith, Foster, Ky.; several nieces including Danette Martin, Homosassa; and several nephews.   • SMITH, W. JAMES, 60, of Homosassa, formerly of Palm Harbor, died Tuesday (Feb. 11, 2003) at home. Born in Shenandoah, Iowa, he came here from Palm Harbor. He was a graduate of National Methodist College, Kansas City, with majors in psychology and biology. He completed his master's degree at John F. Kennedy University, Orindo, Calif., with majors in marriage, family and child counseling, and gerontology. He was the first state president of the California Association for Residential Care Homes. He administered a nursing home in Red Oak, Iowa. He moved to Palm Harbor in 1980 and opened a large Lutheran multilevel retirement community. He also was program coordinator for the hospice nursing home program for Hospice of Florida Sun Coast Pinellas County. He was active in numerous church, civic, health care and Democratic Party organizations. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; two daughters, Wendy Gracy, Dunedin, and Stacey, Homosassa; a son, James, Council Bluffs, Iowa; his mother, Lois Miller, Shenandoah; and three grandchildren.   • WALKER, DOROTHY M., 85, of Crystal River, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) at Crystal River Health Center. Born in Waddy, Ky., she came here in 1963 from Palm Harbor and was a homemaker.   • ANDREN, FLOYD L., 73, of Spring Hill, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) at home. Born in Hempstead, N.Y., he came here 13 years ago from Manalapan, N.J. He was a retired sheet metal worker, an Army reservist and a member of the Hernando County Aviation Club. He was Presbyterian. Survivors include a son, Chris, and a daughter, Kathleen Dropko, both of Manalapan; three brothers, James, Winfield Park, N.J., Harry, West Palm Beach, and Clifford, Keyport, N.J.; a sister, Jackie Sullivan, Orlando; and two grandchildren.   • BURNETT, PAUL R., 89, of Spring Hill, formerly of Hudson, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) in Spring Hill. Born in Marion, N.C., he moved to Hudson in 1978 from Baltimore and moved recently to Spring Hill. He retired from Bethlehem Steel and was a member of Beacon Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Nuree; two sons, Robert, Hudson, and Gary, Chester, Md.; two brothers, Lyda, Oklahoma, and John C., Marion, N.C.; a sister, Nell Hessemer, Cashier, N.C.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.   • ERIKSON, CLYDE G., 89, of Spring Hill, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Spring Hill Health Center. Born in Blue Island, Ill., he was a winter resident here for nine years from Minocqua, Wis. He was a retired accountant in the printing industry and a member of the National Association of Cost Accountants and the National Office Management Association. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Spring Hill. Survivors include his wife, Manetta; two daughters, Delma Erikson, Spring Hill, and Janet Louise Helgeson, Hilton Head, S.C.; a sister, Marjorie Jordan, Franklin, Ind.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She worked at the VA Hospital, Northport, was a saleswoman for Goodwill Industries in Spring Hill, and worked at Weeki Wachee Springs. She was Catholic. She worked as a radiology records supervisor for Staten Island University. She was emergency room admitting supervisor at Oak Hill Hospital and a branch manager for Sun Trust Bayonet Point. He was a retired office machines mechanic for ITT. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.   • YOUNG, FLOYD EARL, 47, of Brooksville, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. Born in Ybor City, he came here in 1981 from Houston. Before becoming disabled, he worked for Florida Crushed Stone. He was involved in community work, especially to underprivileged schoolchildren. He was named Volunteer of the Year in 2001 by the Hernando County Schools. He was president of the PTA and on the School Advisory Committee at Brooksville Elementary School. He was a former governor of Moose Lodge 1676, Moose Legion Cypress 202 and Eagles Zephyrhills.   • HARWELL, JAMES "AULSTON," 63, of Plant City, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003). He was a lifelong resident of the area and a Marine Corps veteran.   • HERMAN, ALBERT, 85, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003.) Born in Miami, he later moved to the Tampa area. He served in the Navy as chief petty officer during World War II. He taught at the Naval Academy after the war. He was in the automobile business in both Sarasota and Tampa.   • RUTLAND, CHARLES EDWARD, JR., 48, of Dover, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003). He was a lifelong resident of the area and a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.   • SPRING, RICHARD CROSBY, 61, of Tampa, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) Town 'N Country Hospital. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., he moved to the area in 1984 from Perryman, Md. He was the manager for Urethane Manufacturing, a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House in Tampa and St. Petersburg. He was a member of the Radio Control Modeling Club and a Christian. She came here in 1944 from her native Springdale, Pa., and was a member of St Mary's Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Women's Club, Catholic Daughters of America and the Women's Club at St. Paul's Catholic Church.     • O'LEARY, THOMAS J., 71, of Treasure Island, died Sunday (Feb. 16, 2003) at Largo Medical Center. Born in Newark, N.J., he came here in 1999 from Manasquan, N.J. He owned 3T Telecommunications in Woodbridge, N.J., for seven years. He was a Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sons, Tommy and Michael; and a daughter, Kathleen O'Leary.     • CATT, HAROLD W., 95, of Seminole, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at Seminole Nursing Pavilion. Born in Litchfield, Ill., he came here in 1985 from Akron, Ohio. He retired in 1972 as a corporate purchasing director for B.F. Goodrich Co. He graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Sarah; a son, Eric Edelmann, Palm Harbor; a daughter, Joyce Wimer, Vail, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.     • LOPOTA, JAN, 59, of Tarpon Springs, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) at home. He was born in Czechoslovakia and came here in 2001 from Munster, Ill. He retired as a steelworker for LTV Steel Co., Chicago. He was a member of St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, Tarpon Springs.     • PERRY, JAMES WESLEY, 60, of Tarpon Springs, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. He moved here in 1952 from his native Dade City. He worked as dispatcher for the Tarpon Springs Police Department, Phillip Fatolitis construction and Modern Cleaners, both in Tarpon Springs, and the former Sperry Rand, Oldsmar. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam and served in the military police for 12 years. He was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Tarpon Springs. Survivors include three daughters, Selina Edmonds and Annette Elliott, both of Clearwater, and Yvette Utley, Tampa; a son, Lamar, Tarpon Springs; his mother, Lottie Mae Perry, Tarpon Springs; a brother, Jerome McIntyre, Tampa; four sisters, Barbara Forbes, Tarpon Springs, Daisy Stuart and Deborah Jones, both of St. Petersburg, and Shirley Valdez, Orlando; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
