  • ALEXANDER, ELVA HAYDEN BRAGA, 81, of Homosassa, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at Cypress Cove Care Center, Crystal River. Born in New Bedford, Mass., she came here in 1995 from Harvard, Mass., and was a retail saleswoman. She was Protestant. Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Julius; a daughter, Edythe Domenechillo, Campton, N.H.; five sons, Tony, Berwick, Maine, Robert, New Bedford, John, Fairhaven, Mass., Gary, North Carolina, and Kevin, Northport; two stepsons, James Alexander, Lecanto, and Dennis Alexander, Gulfport, Miss.; and a stepdaughter, Laurie Ann Alexander, New Bedford.   • DUURLOO, GLORIA O., 74, of Homosassa, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) at home. She came here 69 years ago from her native New York. She was a certified nursing assistant and a member of Concerned Women of America. She was Methodist. Survivors include two daughters, Veronica Duurloo, Homosassa, and Debra Hilliard, Ocala; a brother, Herbert Jurgenson Jr., Worcester, Mass.; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews.   • EVERITT, NORMA K. "NIKI," 64, of Alachua, formerly of Aripeka and St. Petersburg, died Friday (Feb. 14, 2003) at Shands at the University of Florida, Gainesville, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Bowling Green, Ky., she came to Aripeka in 1967 from Ohio. She was the original owner of Cedar Bend Nursery, Aripeka. She resided in St. Petersburg and was on the steering committee for the American Friends Service Committee Peace Education Program. She returned to Hernando in 1993. She was a trustee of the Gulf Coast Convervancy and coordinator of its Bear Hotline. She was a board member of the Coalition for Anti-Urban Sprawl and Environment. She was a member of the Chassahowitzka Black Bear Intra-agency Working Group. She served on several advisory boards for the Hernando County Commission. She was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church, Brooksville. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth E., Ventura, Calif., and Karl D., Flushing, N.Y.; a daughters, Kathryn Crews, Gainesville; a sister, Donna E. Mire, Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.   • HOLLINGSWORTH, MARY JUANITA, 90, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) in Lecanto. Born in Zionsville, Ind., she came here in 1978 from New Augusta, Ind. She was a retired bank teller for the Indiana National Bank of Indianapolis and a member of Trappers Point Christian Church.   • HOLLIS, DAVID, 50, of Hernando, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. He was a lifelong resident of his native Hernando. He was employed by Oxyx Sanitation of Ocala. Survivors include his mother, Mildred; five brothers, Willie Jr., Ocala, Thomas J. and Morris, both of Hernando, Zebedee, Lecanto, and Hurbert, Homosassa; and three sisters, Bertha Houston and Mary Scriben, both of Hernando, and Martha Fisher, San Leandro, Calif.   • LoCASTRO, FRANK JOSEPH, 78, of Homosassa, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Philadelphia, he came to Homosassa in 1972. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving three years in the Central European Campaign. He served in the 255th Infantry, 63rd Division. He was in the antiaircraft unit, specializing as an expert rifleman 745, and was a searchlight crewman. He was a seafood merchant in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Philadelphia. He was the owner and operator of the Homosassa Crab Co. with other plants in Yankeetown and Welaka. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Alhambra Society, both of Washington, D.C., and St. Benedict Catholic Church of Crystal River. Survivors include his wife, Emma Nuzzi; a son, Francis Joseph, Philadelphia; four daughters, Gem McCoy, Parkesburg, Pa., Linda LoCastro and Maria DiMichele, both of Homosassa, and Sheila DiMarino, Folcroft, Pa.; a brother, David, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.   • SPAULDING, KENNETH I., 71, of Crystal River, died Thursday (Feb. 20, 2003) in Crystal River. He was a seasonal visitor here from his native Nashua, N.H. He was the president of Spaulding Associates and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was past president of the Nashua Rotary Club, president of the Industry Management Club and a trustee at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Mary J.; two daughters, Judith Spaulding and Susan Carr, and a sister, Diane Tong, all of Nashua; a brother, David, Portland, Maine; two grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.   • BARTEK, EDWARD J., 85, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at home. Born in Bound Brook, N.J., he came here 19 years ago from Middlesex, N.J. He was retired from American Cyanamid and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater, and was a member of VFW Post 10209. Survivors include his wife, Bertha; two sons, Edward J. He was a retired bus driver for the city of New York and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. She was a clerical secretary, working for the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Agriculture. She was a member of Community Congregational United Church of Christ, New Port Richey. She was active in women's clubs and church organizations in Chicago.     • GREEN, MARY M., 86, of Clearwater, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. She was born in Floral Park, N.Y., and came here in 1976 from Massapequa, N.Y. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Church and the Good Samaritans of Light of Christ, Clearwater.     • DAVIS, CECILIA PAULA, 80, of Dunedin, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. She was born in New Orleans and came here in 1970 from Panama City, Fla. She was a homemaker. She was Catholic and a member of the Dunedin Homemakers Club and the Democratic Women's Club of Pinellas County. Survivors include two daughters, Shirlann Baisley, Dunedin, and Cecilia Cunningham, South Bend, Ind.; a son, Larry, Vero Beach; and six grandchildren.     • FARRINGTON, EDWARD C. JR., 87, of Dunedin, died Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2003) at Westminster Shores Health Center, St. Petersburg. He was born in Hartford, Conn., and was a winter visitor for 12 years before moving here in 1997 from West Hartford, Conn. He was an insurance agent and worked for the Phoenix of Hartford, Travelers, and Amica Insurance companies. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and served with the 400th Bomb Group. He was a member of the Old Guard, Thistle and Fernleigh and Clearwater Lawn Bowling clubs. Survivors include two sons: Edward C. He came here in 1982 from his native Dayton, Ohio, where he retired as a sales representative for Economy Linen and Towel Service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Largo, Bay Pines/Holiday Isles Chapter 13 DAV, St. Pete Beach, VFW Post 9272, Seminole, and an honorary member of the Milton Athletic Club, Dayton, Ohio. He was an avid golfer and fan of the Tampa Bay Bucs. Survivors include his wife, Dolores B.     • GIBBS, EDNA LOUISE, 94, of Palm Harbor, died Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2003) at Marriott Stratford Court, Palm Harbor. She was born in Chicago, came to Clearwater in 1969 and in 1999 moved to Palm Harbor. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church, Clearwater, a 60-year member of the TTT Society and an avid bridge player. Survivors include a daughter, Leila A.
