AMARAL, ERIC ANTHONY, 43, of Homosassa, died Sunday (March 2, 2003) in Crystal River. He was born in Philadelphia. He was a retired Coast Guard veteran of 20 years and served in Desert Storm in the medical field. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Susan (Templin); his parents, Antone and Delores Martin Amaral Jr., Bradenton; a sister, Lisa Smith, and two nephews, Casey Souza and Neil Souza, all of Waltham, Mass. FRANCIS, ALBERTA, 75, of Lecanto, died Monday (March 3, 2003) at home under the care of her daughters and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Mill Creek, W.Va., she came here in 1982 from Bushnell. FURMAN, HELEN, 78, of Homosassa, died Saturday (March 1, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville. Born in Philadelphia, she came here recently from Warminster, Pa., and was Catholic. LANGENMAYR, CARL, 85, of Crystal River, died Sunday (March 2, 2003) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., he came here 42 years ago from North Syracuse, N.Y. He was a retired chief of survey at the Florida Power Crystal River Nuclear Complex and was an air gunnery instructor in the Army Air Forces during World War II and the Korean War. He was a residential builder in New York and he built and operated the Fish Comber Apartments on the Withlacoochee River. He was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church. Survivors include four sons, Jack, Fayetteville, N.Y., James, Beverly Hills, Eric, Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Kurt, Crystal River; a daughter, Pat Black, Lecanto; a brother, Donald, Lakeland; a sister, Rita Carroll, North Syracuse; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. QUINN, EDNA R., 88, of Lecanto, died Sunday (March 2, 2003) at Life Care Center, Lecanto. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she came here 14 years ago from Long Island. She was a retired secretary with Eaton Corp., New York. She loved to garden, travel, collect and shop. She was Catholic. SLACK, JANET ELIZABETH, 81, of Inverness, died Sunday (March 2, 2003) in Inverness. Born in Omaha, Neb., she came here in 1996 from Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was a bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward in Council Bluffs and was Protestant. HOLATO, BETTY JANE, 69, of Brooksville, died Friday (Feb. 28, 2003) at home under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. Born in Detroit, she worked in the hospitality industry and was Baptist. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, William; a son, Edward, Brooksville, and John, New York; a daughter, Rita Holato; a sister, Doris Potterfield, Palm Springs, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. OELBERG, JAMES P., of Spring Hill, died Friday (Feb. 28, 2003) in Brooksville. He was born in Forest, Ohio. He served in the Navy Medical Corps at Great Lakes Naval Hospital during World War II. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in microbiology from the Ohio State University. He was a member of Phi Mu Delta Fraternity and the Society of Sigma Xi Graduate Honorary Society. He spent his professional career formulating medicines and vaccines all over the world. Survivors include his son, Phillip, Orlando; a daughter, Alison Lawson, Greensboro, N.C.; and a grandson. PINGEL, GERALD D., 59, of Spring Hill, died Saturday (March 1, 2003) in Spring Hill at a friend's home. Born in Flint, Mich., he came to this area more than three years ago from Battletown, Ky. WENTZEL, DONALD BOOTH, 83, of Spring Hill, died Thursday (Feb. 27, 2003) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in North Charleroi, Pa., he came to Spring Hill in 1982. He was a graduate of Clemson College, who was then commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Army as a colonel after 33 years of service. He served in Africa, Rome, Washington, D.C., China, Fort Leavenworth, Falls Church, Va., with the CIA, Japan, Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pa., Monterey, Calif., NATO in Paris, France, West Point, Loyola College, Baltimore, Fort Meade and Ankara, Turkey. He received his master's degree in math education from Bowie State College and taught mathematics at the middle school level for eight years. He was a member of the DAV, VFW, Military Officers Association, Oak Hill Senior Center, Senior Friends and was a student pilot. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia A. (Rizzo); three daughters, Dr. Mary C. Wentzel, Newburyport, Mass., Kathleen S. Wentzel, Spring Hill, and Sarah E. BRADDOCK, FRANCES NEJEDLY, of Clearwater and formerly of Tampa, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2003) at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor. She came to Tampa from her native Creighton, Neb., where she graduated in 1930 from the Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and worked at the Edward Tuberculosis Hospital. She retired after 44 years as a registered nurse and last worked for Tampa General Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Kroitzsch, Palm Harbor; four grandchildren, Garth Kroitzsch, Clearwater, Kelie Ezell, Palm Harbor, Lynn Moll, Fort Myers, and Robert Varner Jr., Stirling, Va.; and two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was a heavy equipment operator and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War Era. He was a member of the Augustaville Zion Lutheran Church and member of In The Name of Jesus Outreach Center, Odessa.
