CALLAGY, VICTORIA MARIE, 76, of Floral City, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003) at home under the care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Albany, N.Y., she came here in 1991 from Patchogue, N.Y. She was a homemaker and a member of the Share Club. She was Catholic. DONALDSON, MILDRED J., 75, of Crystal River, died Monday (March 3, 2003) at home. Born in Owosso, Mich., she came here in 1981 from Oakley, Mich. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, William R.; a daughter, Judith Donaldson, Owosso; four sons, William R. Donaldson Jr., Fenton, Mich., James, Arcadia, David, Oakley, Mich., and Daniel, Benton, Ark.; a sister, Lillian Magley, Owosso; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. DOUGLAS, MILTON R., 73, of Homosassa, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) in Crystal River. Born in Fort Wayne, Ind., he came here in 1991 from Baldwin, Mich. He was a truck driver, an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, and a member of the Moose Lodge. He was Protestant. Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie J. Reus, Sevierville, Tenn., Dianna Hirt, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Candy Vandervoord, Marcellus, Mich.; a brother, Paul Douglas, Nobleton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and companion, Geneva Warden. EVANS, PAUL SHANNON, 86, of Homosassa, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Boston, he came here 10 years ago from South Carolina. He was a pilot in the Air Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel at Otis Air Force Base after 30 years of service. He served in World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was the recipient of three Distinguished Flying Crosses with two Oak Leaf Clusters and four Battle Stars. He later owned and operated Paul Evans Real Estate. He was a member of the Sugarmill Woods Country & Tennis Club, the Military Officers Association of America, the Caterpillar Club and the Eighth Air Force Historical Society. Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Barbara; a daughter, Susan Evans, Conway, N.H.; two sons, Paul W., Winchester, Mass., and Mark S., Brentwood, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Lisa Barnes, Dana Pointe, Calif.; a stepson, Ric Barnes, Denver; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. HAKEY, JOYCE M., 64, of Inverness, died Sunday (March 2, 2003) in Inverness. Born in Little Rock, Ark., she came here in 1972 from Braceville, Ill., and was a certified nursing assistant. McFADDEN, JOSEPH WILLIAM SR., 61, of Homosassa, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River. Born in Chester, Pa., he came here five years ago from Cape Coral. He was a retired chef and master woodworker. He was a National Guard veteran. He was a member of House of Power in Hernando, Hope Gospel Singers, and Clowns for Christ. Survivors include his wife, Jewel (Delaine); three sons, Joseph, New Hope, Pa., Matthew McFadden, Landsdale, Pa., and Joshua, Telford, Pa.; two daughters, Sherry Payton, Landsdale, and Laura McFadden, Telford; two brothers, Neal and Jim, both of Florida: two sister, Doris Gouthier, Homosassa, Connie DiPietrantonio, Clearwater; eight nieces and seven nephews; and a granddaughter. ROCKMAN, ALFRED G., 83, of Hernando, died Monday (March 3, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Born in Bronx, N.Y., he came here in 1971 from Brandywine, Md. He retired from the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D.C., with 27 years of service. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Knights of Columbus, and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church of Inverness. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; four daughters, Carol Van Ness and Chris Trangas, both of Hernando, Virginia Morgan, Jacksonville, and Donna Haertel, Cape Coral; and several grandchildren. SADDEN, JOHN A., 78, of Lecanto, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003) in Inverness. He was born in Philadelphia. He was a supervisor for Presswell Records and a Navy veteran of World War II. SAYLOR, RICHARD W., 58, of Inverness, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) in Inverness. Born in Somerset, Pa., he was a winter resident from Lorain, Ohio. He was a high voltage electrician for a steel company. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Amvets Post 22, American Legion Post 30, VFW Post 451, the Bachelors Social Club and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, all in Ohio. Survivors include his wife, Maria E. FALASCO, ANTHONY P., 83, of Brooksville, died Monday (March 3, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville. He came here 20 years ago from Yonkers, N.Y. He was retired inspector for the City of Yonkers with more than 25 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, was awarded the Purple Heart, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was Catholic. FRAZIER, HENRIETTA BOOKER, 85, of Brooksville, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003) at Brooksville Regional Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of her native Brooksville. She was a retired cook and a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Survivors include her nephew, Julius L. Jones, and a niece, Geneva Peeples, both of Brooksville. HALL, MAXWELL, 93, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville. Born in Columbus, Ohio, he lived in Holiday Springs RV Park for many years. VOELKER, WILLIAM ROBERT SR., 88, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in St. Louis, he moved to Naples from Clinton, Mo., in 1967, then moved to Venice in 1989, and then to Spring Hill in 1995. He was proprietor of Vess-Cola Bottling Co. and Sun Flower Transfer and Storage, both in Joplin, Mo. He owned Voelker Oil and Gas Co. He was an air transport commander and Army veteran, serving in the China-Burma-India Theater. He was Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Virginia E.; two sons, John Weyman, Centennial, Colo., and William R. Voelker Jr., Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. BOLUMEN, RAFAEL, 74, of Tampa, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003). Born in Artemisa, Cuba, he moved to Tampa in 1967. He was the owner of Santana Market and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. BUTTS, THERON F., 77, of Wimauma, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) at Brandon Regional Hospital. Born in Dover, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, participating in the Normandy invasion. CARLISLE, JACK HAMILTON, 74, of Tampa, died Friday (Feb. 28, 2003). He moved to Tampa many years ago from North Carolina. He retired from the banking industry, having worked for Exchange Bank and NCNB. He was an elder at First Christian Church, Tampa. GILDER, ROBERT LEE, 72, of Tampa, died Friday (Feb. 28, 2003) at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Warren, Texas, he moved to the Tampa area in 1959 from Tallahassee. He was a former president of the Tampa NAACP and former chief of the War on Poverty program. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor "Ellie;" a son, Robert L. Gilder Jr., Valdosta, Ga.; a stepson, Elwood Edwards Jr.; a daughter, Palma Gilder, Jacksonville; his mother, Louise Haynes, Leesville, La.; two brothers, Hirl W. and Marvin E. GOLDMAN, ALVIN, 86, of Sun City Center, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003) at South Bay Hospital. He moved to the Tampa area in 1985 from Chicago. He was retired from the paint manufacturing industry and was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a member of Kiwanis, the Sportsman Lodge and Deer Park Lodge of B'nai B'rith, and the Beth-El Temple, all in Chicago and Beth Israel Congregation. POYNER, EDNA MAE, 76, of Plant City, died Tuesday (March 4, 2003). Born in Tennessee, she was a longtime resident of the Tampa area. She was a machine operator in Tennessee during World War II and the former owner of Johnnie's Superette in Plant City. Born in Mount Pleasant, Pa., he came here in 1978 from Carlisle, Pa. and was a retired U.S. Postal Service clerk. He was Protestant. He was a retired first sergeant with the Army with 20 years of service. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and was the recipient of the Silver Star Medal. His memberships included the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Marine Corps League Detachment 567, VFW McKay Post and American Legion Veterans Village Post 343. She was a registered nurse at University Community Hospital. She was a retired Army veteran, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. She was a member of Spirit of Life Metropolitan Community Church of New Port Richey. She was born in Oakland, Calif., and came here in 1977 from Larchmont, N.Y. She was a member of Belleair Country Club, the American Contract Bridge League, where she was ranked as a bronze life master, and a former member of Larchmont Yacht Club. She was a world traveler. Survivors include two sons, Robert J. Jr., Town and Country, Mo., and Paul K., Raleigh, N.C.; her longtime companion, Dr. Irwin Slater, Clearwater Beach; and two grandchildren, Greg and Meaghan Carroll, both of Town and Country. She retired in 2000 from Calvin Hunsinger School after 20 years as a media specialist with the Pinellas County School System. She was a member of PEER Retired Teachers Association and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Survivors include four sons, Jay F. Dempsey, Largo, John J. Dempsey, Heidelberg, Germany, Jeffrey T. Dempsey, Ansonia, Conn., and James A. - HAMMER, MARIE E., 83, of Clearwater Beach, died Thursday (March 6, 2003) at Mariner Health Care of Clearwater. She came here in 1967 from her native Jersey City, N.J., and retired as an administrative assistant for the Pinellas County School System. She was Lutheran and a member of Seminole Lakes Country Club. - ALBANESE, DR. NICOLO M. "NICK," 93, of Palm Harbor, formerly of Clearwater and St. Petersburg, died Wednesday (March 5, 2003) at Mariner Health Care of Clearwater, He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., moved to St. Petersburg in 1975 from West Nyack, N.Y., moved to Clearwater in 1980 and to Palm Harbor in 1993. He retired after 20 years as director, then chairman, of the department of radiology at St. Clare's Hospital and Health Center, New York City. He earned his medical degree from the Royal University of Naples and the University of Bologna, both in Italy, and completed residencies at the King's County Hospital and the Brooklyn Cancer Institute, both in New York City, He was a specialist in pediatric cardiology. He was a member of St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, Tarpon Springs, the American Board of Radiology, American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America and a fellow of the International College of Surgeons.
