FORTE, WILBURN S. SR., 66, of Brooksville, formerly of Inverness, died Monday (March 17, 2003) in Tampa. Born in Zolfo Springs, he came here in 1965 from Inverness. He was a surveyor for Harry Marlow Surveying, Pinellas Park, and W.D. Greene Land Surveying, Brooksville. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and was Baptist. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Leah L.; three sons, James Abbe, Hernando, Wilburn S. Forte Jr., Crystal River, and William E., Bradenton; a daughter, Marie Pittman, Tennessee; a sister, Willine, California; 11 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Hooper Funeral Homes, Inverness.
LINGLE, ARLENE MARY, 72, of Crystal River, died Tuesday (March 18, 2003) at Cypress Cove Care Center, Crystal River. She came here seven years ago from her native Detroit. She was a retired nurse's aide, a homemaker and Catholic. She enjoyed bowling. Survivors include her stepson, Terry Lingle, North Carolina; her stepdaughter, Toni Cronin, Jacksonville; a brother, James Dale, Redford, Mich.; a sister, Linda Yordy, Homosassa; two grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. MALMSTROM, MICHAEL EDWIN, 48, of Homosassa, died Monday (March 17, 2003) at home. Born in Davenport, Iowa, he came here in 1972 from Cambridge, Ill. He was a former waiter at Sugarmill Woods Golf & Country Club and member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Homosassa. SUHR, PETER J., 75, of Hernando, died Tuesday (March 18, 2003) in Lecanto. Born in Hamburg, Germany, he came here three years ago from New York. He retired as vice president of Magnetic Analysis Corp., Mount Vernon, N.Y., with 42 years of service. He received the Engineering Achievement Award from Magnetic Analysis for his contributions to science and his U.S. patents. He was a real estate broker for Century 21 in Tappan, N.Y. He was an Army veteran of World War II and taught calculus. He was a national associate member of the Smithsonian Institute. He was a 25-year member of the American Society for Testing and Materials, which honored him in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks Lodge. He was a religious instructor for 11 years at St. Margaret Parish, Pearl River, N.Y. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church of Beverly Hills. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Victoria A.; a son, Peter, and a daughter, Virginia Suhr, both of New York; two stepsons, Glenn Mezzasalma, Beverly Hills, and Mark Mezzasalma, New York; a stepdaughter, Roseann Moran, New York; and two grandchildren. GOFF, WILLIAM T., 76, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (March 16, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in Canneyville, Okla., he came here 33 years ago from Indiana. He was a self-employed construction contractor and member of the Hernando Exotic Bird Club. LEO, JEAN, 89, of Spring Hill, died Monday (March 17, 2003) at Heron Point Nursing Home, Brooksville. She came here 20 years ago from Brooklyn, N.Y. She was an avid bingo player and Catholic. SCHUETZLER, LOIS THOMPSON, 75, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (March 16, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in Washington, D.C., she came here eight years ago from Davidsonville, Md. She was an amateur photographer, who won many competitions and had her images published in Eastman Kodak publications. She was a member of the Spring Hill Camera Club. She was an avid reader and sports fan. She was Lutheran. Survivors include her husband, Rudolph G.; a daughter, Patricia S. Howard, Herndon, Va.; and two grandchildren. THOMPSON, TIMOTHY D. SR., 46, of Brooksville, formerly of New Port Richey, died Monday (March 17, 2003) at home. Born in Green Castle, Ind., he came here eight years ago from New Port Richey and was an appointment clerk for Wal-Mart. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, a son, Timothy D. ZOBOTT, RICHARD HARVEY JR., 88, of Brooksville, died Sunday (March 16, 2003) at home under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. He came here in 1984 from his native Chicago. He was a tool and die maker and an Army veteran. He was an organist, played golf and was Lutheran. Survivors include three sons, Jeff, Flagstaff, Ariz., Keith, Chandler, Ariz., and Richard, Chicago; a daughter, Pam Peters, Rollmead, Ill.; a sister, Geri Fabisch, Chicago; seven grandchildren; and companion of 20 years, Anna Cucchiaro. BRADY, WILMA JEAN HATTON, 75, of Brandon, died Friday (March 14, 2003). Born in Benham, Ky., she moved to the Tampa area 23 years ago from Fostoria, Ohio. CAGNINA, MARY, 92, of Tampa died Tuesday (March 18, 2003). She was a lifelong Tampa resident and worked in Tampa's cigar industry. DIAZ, ELOISA C."GLORIA," 71, of Tampa, died Sunday (March 16, 2003). A native of Havana, Cuba, she moved to Tampa in 1957. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Norberto L. HALL, JOHN, 76, of Tampa, died Saturday (March 15, 2003). A lifelong resident of the Tampa area, he was with the Army's 66th Division in World War II. He was a Baptist and a member of Panther Veteran Organization, 11th Airborne Division Association. He was a retired service manager with Buddy Bi-Rite. MCDANIEL, FLOYD EDWARD, 73, of Lithia, died Sunday (March 16, 2003). He was born in Louisiana and moved to the Tampa area 50 years ago from Waldenberg, Ark. He worked at J.W. Daniels Fruit Harvesting and was Pentecostal. Survivors include his wife Ruby; four sons, Bobby, Bruce and Nelson, all of Lithia, and Patrick, Polk City; one daughter, Arlene Fredrick, Lithia; two brothers, Earl, Steinhatchee, and George, Balm ; two sisters, Myrtle Reifsteck, Balm and Ruby Baxley, Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. McKINNEY, ROBERT W., 75, of Sun City Center, died Saturday (March 15, 2003). He retired as a bar code project manager for Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company in Kalamazoo, Mich. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. OWEN, DEAN W., SR., 79, of Tampa died Tuesday (March 18, 2003). He was a retired major in the Air Force and a member of Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Tampa, Resurrection Lutheran Church in Franklin, N.C., and a retired Air Force pilot. She was a longtime resident of her native Tarpon Springs and moved to Holiday in 1999. She was a certified nursing assistant at Tarpon Bayou Center with 10 years of service. - LEACH, WILLIAM P. SR., 73, of Valparaiso, formerly of Clearwater, died Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2003). He was born in Minneola, moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1959 and moved in 1979 to Clearwater where he worked 10 years with National Safe Corp. He later worked 10 years with J.W. Stannard, Largo. He was a member and usher of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Clearwater. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Alice M.; four sons, Thomas M., Valparaiso, Stephen P., Clearwater, William P. He worked for the Veterans Administration since 1966 in Wadsworth, Kan., and locally since 1974 at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center, Tampa, where he was chief of human resources. - TINGLEY, RAYMOND A., 83, formerly of Clearwater, died Wednesday (March 19, 2003) at Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was born in Elk, Mich., and came here in 1972 from Port Huron, Mich., and in 1999 returned to Michigan. He was a carpenter and an Army veteran of World War II, where he was squad leader in a combat battalion of the 91st Infantry Division in Italy. He received the Purple Heart. He played for and managed the Marines Slo Ball team. He was a life member and post commander of Chapter 12 DAV, past president of the Allied Veterans Council, and past member of Charles Hammond American Legion Post 8. He locally was active in the Clearwater Shuffleboard Club. He won many trophies and was chief referee and tournament director. Survivors include a son, Lewis, Port Huron; four daughters, Dorothy Porrett and Judith Brown, both of Port Huron, and Karen Faust and Sharon Simpson, both of Fort Gratiot, Mich.; a sister, Mable Roth, Fort Gratiot; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was born in Detroit and has been a winter visitor since 1990 from McHenry, Ill. He retired as an advertising manager from Norge Appliances, a division of Borg-Warner, Chicago. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He attended First Christian Church, Clearwater. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gloria; a son, Donald, Somerville, Tenn.; a daughter, Carol Ann Lee, McHenry; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. - MITCHELL, RUBY, 93, of Dunedin, formerly of Clearwater, died Saturday (March 15, 2003) at Mease Continuing Care, Dunedin. She came to Clearwater in 1939 from her native Camilla, Ga., and moved in the late 1940s to Dunedin. She was a private patient licensed practical nurse. She was an active member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Clearwater. She served on the deaconess board, the nursing guild and Mission Friends (a Women's Missionary Union organization) and was a children's Sunday school teacher and a child evangelism fellowship teacher for upper Pinellas and Pasco counties. Survivors include a stepson, Ivory Jr., Manhattan, N.Y.; a brother, Willie Lewis, Gainesville; and two sisters, Martha Smith, Gainesville, and Jessie M. Davis, Hawthorne. - RACKSTEIN, LILIE, 88, of Dunedin, died Wednesday (March 19, 2003) at the home of a son in Belleair Bluffs. She was born in New York City and came here in 1975 from Hewlett, N.Y. She retired as manager for Babaco Alarm Co. She was Jewish and a member of Hadassah and the Organization of Rehabilitation and Training. - KEYSER, EDITH CAVELL, 87, of Gulfport, died Tuesday (March 18, 2003) at St. Petersburg General Hospital. Born in Nova Scotia, she moved to Pinellas Park in 1970 from Kew Gardens, N.Y., and to Gulfport in 1997. As a young woman, she was a professional softball player in Montreal. In New York City, she was a Western Union clerk for 22 years. She also was a clerk for the transportation department for the city of St. Petersburg. She was an avid bingo player. - LAPSON, THOMAS K., 65, of Kenneth City, died Saturday (March 15, 2003) at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. Born in Monongahela, Pa., he came to Florida in 1982 and moved to Kenneth City seven years ago. He was a commercial artist and an architectural consultant for downtown revitalization programs for St. Petersburg and Sarasota and did ground maintenance and light construction at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. He was a kayak enthusiast and enjoyed white water rafting. He was a member of American Legion Post 273 and VFW Post 4256 in Madeira Beach.
