  • DAW, RAY EDWARD, 60, of Crystal River, formerly of Tampa, died Thursday (March 20, 2003) in Crystal River. Born in Pensacola, he moved to Crystal River 12 years ago from Tampa. He was a member of the Citrus County Genealogical Society, Save Our Waters, WHOA , and Citrus County Historical Society. He was also a board member for Citrus 20/20.   • JEFFERSON, WILLIAM A. "BILLY," 65, of Floral City, formerly of Thonotosassa, died Saturday (March 22, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Born in Tampa, he moved to Floral City 23 years ago from Thonotosassa. He was the owner/operator of Zackers Bottled Gas Co. of Tampa for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Floral City VFW Post Men's Auxiliary, Citrus County Airboat Alliance and a lifetime member of the Lions Club. He was Methodist. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jeannette A. "J.J." (Roddenberry); two daughters, Kathy Hardy, Inverness, and Patricia "P.K."   • KIDD, WILLIAM R., 57, of Inverness, died Monday (March 24, 2003) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Atlanta, he came here in 1975 from Fort Myers. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Florida State University and a master's in economics from Georgia State University. He was an Army and an Air Force veteran. He flew both fighter jets and helicopters in the Vietnam War and was wounded in action. He was employed as a public assistance specialist with the State of Florida Department of Children and Families. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne; two daughters, Kimberly Hobdy, Columbia, Md., and Alexis Kidd, Inverness; a son, Joseph, Inverness; a stepson, Kenneth Paulton, St. Petersburg; a brother, Terry Kidd, Woodstock, Ga.; and a grandson, Justin Paulton, St. Petersburg.   • PRIEST, JEFFREY C. JR., 18, of Crystal River, died Monday (March 24, 2003) in Volusia County as a result of an automobile accident. Born in Inverness, he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a senior at Crystal River High School and a member of the FFA. He was a part-time employee of Jeff's 4X4 Inc. in Ocala and a member of Ocala Jeep Club. He was Baptist. He was born in Toronto and came here in 1969 from Windsor, Ontario, where he retired as a manager of production control for Ford Motor Co. and Ford Canada. He was a member of Clearwater Community Church.     • CONLEY, JOHN J., 84, of Clearwater, died Monday (March 24, 2003) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Malden, Mass., and came here in 1976 from Concord, Mass. He was a metallurgist and an Army veteran of World War II with service in the China-Burma-India campaign. He was Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fisherman and bridge player. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary; a son, Michael, Ashland, Mass.; a daughter, Mary J. For 17 years, he was vice chancellor, chancellor and vicar general of the Archdiocese of Miami, and retired as the pastor of St. Isabel Parish on Sanibel Island, Diocese of Venice, Fla. He was a physician and had a private practice for 25 years and created the first walk-in clinic in Pinellas County on Clearwater Beach. He was past president of the Pinellas County Osteopathic Physicians Association, former director of the Board of Examiners of Physicians in Florida. His hobbies were genealogy and woodworking.     • CZEKALSKI, RICHARD L. "CHECK," 83, of South Pasadena, died Sunday (March 23, 2003) in the emergency room at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. He came here in 1922 from his native Cleveland with his father, Leopold, who became a noted speculator and property owner in Pass-a-Grille during the boom days of the 1920s. He was a 1937 graduate of St. Petersburg High School and a 1941 graduate of Georgetown University, where he received a business degree. He was a real estate broker in St. Pete Beach and Pass-a-Grille. He moved in 1948 to Cincinnati, where he was a builder, and returned to St. Pete Beach in 1973. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
