  • BROMWELL, NELL R., 81, of Floral City, died Monday (March 31, 2003) in Floral City. Born in Estill, S.C., she came here in 1983 from Cashiers, N.C. She was a homemaker and a member of the Floral City Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Robert F.; a son, Robert F., Mill Spring, N.C.; a daughter, Sandra Hinton, Atlanta; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.   • KOHN, JOEL LEVI, 78, of Inverness, died Sunday (March 30, 2003) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Terre Haute, Ind., he came here 13 years ago from Hiawassee, Ga. He was a retired quality engineer employed by Pratt & Whitney with 25 years of service. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He received his bachelor's degree from Indiana State University. He was a member of the Marine Corps League Citrus Detachment 819. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Vivian J. (Martin); four sons, Terence, East Hampton, Conn., Ryan, Kennebunk, Maine, Shannon, Stuart, Fl., and David, Altus, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.   • SHEROUSE, LONZA K., 79, of Floral City, died Monday (March 31, 2003) at Avante at Inverness. Born in Brooksville, he came here in 1978 from Bandera, Texas. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired with 30 years of service, achieving the rank of senior master sergeant. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Hunter Education Program and the Floral City VFW Post 7122. Survivors include two sons, Robert G., Molino, and Cleeve, England; two daughters, Rececca K.   • DUNN, JACK, 72, of Brooksville, died Monday (March 31, 2003) at home. He was a lifetime resident of his native Brooksville. He was a plumber and pipe fitter and a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. He was an Air Force Veteran and a member of the Moose Lodge. He was Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son, Jack Dunn Jr., a daughter, Bonnie Lee Dunn, and a brother, Richard Knighton, all of Brooksville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.   • LaCROIX, CLAUDE L., 86, of Spring Hill, formerly of New Port Richey, died Tuesday (April 1, 2003) at The Residence at Timber Pines in Spring Hill. Born in Sarnia, Ontario, he moved to Spring Hill one year ago from New Port Richey where he lived for 31 years. He was a retired sergeant with the Detroit Police Department. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 3153 and past president of Beacon Square Civic Association. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Farrell Council and Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.   • UNDERWOOD, ALAN W. "WOODY," 57, of Brooksville, died Monday (March 31, 2003) at Brooksville Regional Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Brooksville. He was a 1963 graduate of Hernando High School and earned his law degree at the University of Florida in 1971. He was an attorney at the Law Offices of Underwood & Eppley, P.A. He was the former city attorney for the city of Brooksville; past president, vice-president and activist for the Sertoma Club; member of the Hernando County Education Foundation; past president of the Florida Bar Association; founding board member of the Withlacoochee Area Legal Services; elected Boss of the Year by the Professonal Secretaries Association of Hernando County; presented the Pro Bono Service Award by the Fifth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Project; and was a former T-ball coach. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a retired department superintendant in the Printing Division of McCall Corporation with 38 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Brooksville VFW. He was Protestant. She served in the Peace Corps in Africa. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Robert E. He was a citrus grower and a member of the board of directors for the Jackson Memorial Hospital. He served as a city commissioner in Dade City in the early 1960s. He came here in 1986 from his native New York City, where he retired as an insurance executive. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.     • GARRETT, JACK RANDALL, 78, of Clearwater, died Sunday (March 30, 2003) at home. He was born in Sand Fork, W. Va., and came here in 1961 from Fishersville, Va. He graduated from Glenville State College and received a master's degree in 1953 from West Virginia University. He was a teacher in Staunton, Va., and a school administrator for 30 years in the Pinellas County School System, serving as principal of Plumb, Kings Highway and Seventy-Fourth Street elementary schools. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served as a radio operator on a minesweeper in the Pacific Theater. He traveled throughout the United States and Canada. He was a registered nurse in the Air Force and at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. He was a World War II Navy veteran and an Air Force major.     • ANDERSON, STEPHEN J. "STEVE," 36, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (March 31, 2003) at St. Anthony's Hospital. He came here in 1989 from his native Alliance, Ohio. He was an Army infantry sergeant from 1985 to 1989. He worked as a management consultant. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and St. Raphael's Catholic Church. He loved flying airplanes, scuba diving, and spear fishing. He was active with the Bailey Family Foundation in Tampa.
