FARROW, JAMES D., 70, of Lecanto, died Friday (March 28, 2003) in Lecanto. He came here in 1979 from his native Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was a disabled Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Niswonger, Jackson, Mo., and Juanita Evans, Lecanto. Hooper Funeral Homes, Inverness.
GETTS, THOMAS W., 58, of Crystal River, died Monday (April 1, 2003) at home. Born in Mount Holly Township, N.J., he came here 22 years ago from Bellmawr, N.J. He was a retired Army veteran achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Crystal River VFW Post, and Crystal River DAV Post 70. He was an honorary member of the Florida Sheriffs Association and Sheriff Youth Ranch of Citrus County. He sponsored many charities and enjoyed traveling. He was Catholic. Survivors include two brothers, Edward, West Virginia, and Larry, Crystal River; four sisters, Mary Clark, Crystal River, Theresa Booth, Naples, Patricia Getts and Barbara Selah, both of Mantua, N.J.; a half-brother, Robert Bemesderfer, Florida; a half-sister, Linda DiGeralamo, Hammonton, N.J.; 10 nephews and eight nieces; several great and great-great-nephews and nieces. HAFFEMAN, CHARLES E., 81, of Beverly Hills, died Sunday (March 30, 2003) in Hernando. Born in McLaughlin, S.D., he came here in 1987 from Paramus, N.J. He was a retired food service director with the Marriott Corp. He was the owner of White Clock Restaurant and Jif-Jiffy Restaurant, both in New Jersey. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His memberships included: president of New York City, Long Island, New Jersey Social Club; member Masonic Lodge 271; member New Jersey Club of Citrus County; member Beverly Hills Shuffleboard Club; volunteered at Seven Rivers Hospital and Meals-On-Wheels; a faithful blood donor; attended Beverly Hills Community Church. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Evelyn (Mullern); a son, Jeffery, Somerset, N.J.; a daughter, Nancy Danner, Bradenton; two brothers, Dale, Lakeside, Calif., and Jack, McCormick, S.C.; two sisters, June Meyer, Hillsborough, N.C., and Dona Courtney, Marietta, Ga.; a grandson and a granddaughter. KOPP, BARBARA ANN, 54, of Spring Hill, died Saturday (March 29, 2003) at home. Born in Astoria, N.Y., she came here 22 years ago from Medford, N.Y. She was a registered nurse for 30 years. She was head nurse at Lakeland Regional Hospital and one of the original registered nurses at Oak Hill Hospital. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, David; two sons, Jeffrey, Crystal River, and James, Spring Hill; three daughters, Sarah Egan and Vanessa Kopp, both of Tampa, and Rachel McVay, Spring Hill; her parents, Alfred and Marie Wolf, Spring Hill; two brothers, Robert Wolf, Tampa, and Alfred Wolf Jr., Cobbs Landing; a sister, Marie Lucier, Spring Hill; and three grandchildren. NICHOLS, WILLIAM C. JR., 79, of Hernando, died Sunday (March 30, 2003) in Hernando. Born in Oaklyn, N.J., he came here in 1976 from Miami. He was a Navy veteran radarman who served in World War II. Survivors include his wife, Cathleen; a daughter, Dale Thomas, Hernando; two stepsons, William Johnson, Miami, and John Johnson, Pensacola; five grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. PRENTICE, RICHARD F., 75, of Dunnellon, died Monday (April 1, 2003) in Ocala. Born in Batesville, Ind., he came here in 1988 from Nashville, Ind. He retired from cattle farming in 1988 and his lifelong ambition was raising thoroughbred cattle. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include a brother, Jim, Bloomington, Ind.; three sisters, Joan Prentice, Bloomington, Janet McGarvey, Carmel, Ind., and Marge Stratton, Fort Morgan, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; and companion of 56 years, Eugene J. BOCK, PATRICIA A., 72, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (March 30, 2003) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. She came here in 1989 from her native Chicago. She was a retired executive secretary. She was a member of the Brookridge Womens Bridge Club and St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Robert; two sons, Robert Bock Jr., Smithfield, N.C., and Mark, Schaumburg, Ill.; two daughters, Michelle Bock, New Lennox, Ill., and Victoria Lasch, Orland Park, Ill.; and many grandchildren. CAPPER, H. PAUL, 55, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (April 1, 2003) at home. Born in St. Louis, he came here five years ago from Cadiz, Ky. He was a retired manager of design services with Peabody Coal Co. and member of the Brooksville Seventh-day Adventist Church. Survivors include his wife, Elaine; a son, Anthony, Spring Hill; a daughter, Renee Beck, Hazleton, Ind.; his mother, Lena Capper, Cahokia, Ill.; a brother, James, Whitefield, Maine; four sisters, Patsy Tieman, Belleville, Ill., Cindy Chandler, Davidsville, Mo., Christine Orsech, Macclenny, and Connie Eberts, Mascoutah, Ill.; and three grandchildren. LoCASTRO, JAMES J., 76, of Auburn, N.Y., formerly of Spring Hill, died Friday (March 28, 2003) at home. Born in Skaneateles, N.Y., he moved to Spring Hill in 1993 from Auburn returning in 1998. He was an accordionist and had his own band, the "Dreamlanders". He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a journeyman union electrician with IBEW Locals 394 and 840. He was a third-degree Knight of Columbus with the St. Jude Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Yvonne (Petrosino); two sons, James A., Auburn, and Joseph N., Las Vegas; a daughter, Susan M. MARKOVSKY, DOLORES R., 71, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (April 1, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in Bronx, N.Y., she came here 15 years ago from Long Island, N.Y. She was a homemaker, an active member of the Hernando Beach Yacht Club and was Baptist. PRUETER, JOHN LOUIS JR., 79, of Spring Hill, died Monday (March 31, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill. Born in Saginaw, Mich., he was a seasonal resident from Golden Valley, Minn. He was an attorney, a Navy pilot and veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Timber Pines Golf Club, Snow Birds group and Newcomers group. He was Lutheran. SIECZKOWSKI, STEFAN, 84, of Spring Hill, died Monday (March 17, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Brooksville. Born in Skrzelczyce, Poland, he came here 15 years ago from Chicago. He was a mechanical engineer and was Catholic. Survivors include a brother, Jozef, a sister, Maria Gardian, and a nephew, Dariusz Szmit, all of Poland; and fiancee, Stefania Kobrzynski. BARRY, GEORGE J. "MIKE" JR., 56, of Tampa, died Saturday (March 29, 2003). He was a retired U.S. Navy master chief, after 26 years of service, and was a Vietnam War veteran. DAVIS, DOROTHY LOWE, 73, of Tampa, died Thursday (March 27, 2003). Born in Tampa, she retired after 31 years as a custodian supervisor at the University of South Florida. She was a member of the Greater New Salem Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired truck mechanic for the city of Milwaukee with 28 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of American Legion Post 173 and AMVETS Post 98. He was a retired Air Force master sergeant with 24 years of service. He served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of USAF Sergeants Association, Blue Dolphin Chapter, Seminole, and a life member of DAV Chapter 78 New Port Richey. He was Catholic. Survivors include his son, Joseph A. KAGARISE, ETHEL MARIE, 97, of Martinsburg, Pa., formerly of Holiday, died Sunday (March 30, 2003) at Homewood Retirement Center in Martinsburg. Born in East Freedom, Pa., she lived in Holiday before moving to Pennsylvania. She was a retired school teacher. Survivors include four sons, Ronald, Fort Washington, Md., Herbert, Uniontown, Ohio, Richard, Glenn Riddle, Pa., and Gary, Pine Grove Mills, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. MAGNANI, IVO, 78, of Holiday, died Tuesday (April 1, 2003) at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here in 1978 from Long Island, N.Y. He was a supervisor for the Hempstead City Parks Department in New York and worked for Louis Sherry Ice Cream. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1485 and was a grand knight of Father Farrell Knights of Columbus Council 6476. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. SANDAK, CHARLES N., 71, of New Port Richey, died Tuesday (April 1, 2003) at home. Born in Johnstown, Pa., he came here in 1989 from West Milford, N.J. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Camp Hope, West Milford, with 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of AMVETS Post 98 and American Legion Post 173. He was past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 2236 and Warwick F&AM Lodge 544. He was Catholic. WERELEY, JEAN E., 79, of Holiday, formerly of Dunedin, died Tuesday (April 1, 2003) at Manor Care of Palm Harbor. Born in Rochester, N.Y., she moved to Dunedin in 1978 from Weston, Vt. and moved to Holiday in 1989. She was a retired nurse and also owned several restaurants in Vermont. She was Protestant. - BRENNER, RENA C., 84, formerly of Clearwater, died Sunday (March 30, 2003) in Ivyland, Pa. She came here in 1986 from Cleveland and moved recently to Pennsylvania to be near family. She co-owned the historic 600-seat Royalty Theater in downtown Clearwater as a partner of Socrates and Dru Charos (Florida Sports Dance Federation of America). She worked as a journalist for the Camden (Conn.) Courier newspaper and the Salt Lake City Tribune. She was a public relations executive with General Atronics Corp., the ITD/Gould Corp., and retired as vice president of public relations and investor relations for the Parker Hannifin Corp., Cleveland. She served on the board of the Florida Federation of Sport Dance and participated in the Dance Olympiade in June 1996 at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece. She was a small-business counselor with SCORE. Survivors include a daughter, Renee Ackerman; a stepdaughter, Sally Hammerman; two stepsons, Hugh and Malcolm Brenner; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Joseph A. - DUNCAN, CHARLES V., 97, of Lake Mary, formerly of Clearwater, died Tuesday (April 1, 2003) at Lake Mary Health and Rehab. He was born in Rome, Ga., came here in 1967 from Detroit and moved in 2002 to Lake Mary. He retired as an investigator after 28 years with the Wayne County (Mich.) prosecutor's office. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, Clearwater, and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Eslinger, Sanford, and Margaret Showalter, Dearborn, Mich.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He worked as a sales manager for the DuPont Corp. and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was Methodist and a member of the Silver Dollar Trap Club, Odessa, the Ansonia (Conn.) Rod & Gun Club and Palestine Lodge AF&AM, Everett, Mass. Survivors include a son, Robert G., Trumbull, Conn.; a daughter, Lin A. - MOREHOUSE, HOWARD GRANT, 76, of Clearwater, died Saturday (March 29, 2003) at home. He was born in Camden, N.J., and came here in 1986 from Kalamazoo, Mich. where he retired after 31 years as a marketing representative for James River Co. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 422 and Moose Lodge Chapter 1792, all of Delton, Mich.
