CHORNEY, JOHN, 86, of Beverly Hills, died Wednesday (April 9, 2003) in Crystal River. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a seasonal visitor here since 2000 from Carle Place, N.Y. He was a retired foreman in the sheet metal division for General Electric in Brooklyn. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic War Veterans and the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his wife, Anna (Kohut); two daughters, Theresa Hrobuchak, Beverly Hills, and Marie O'Connell, Valley Stream, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Barbara Welki, both of Floral Park, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. DuFLOTH, SYLVIA L., 79, of Lecanto, died Thursday (April 10, 2003) in Crystal River. Born in Chicago, she came here four years ago from DesPlaines, Ill. She was a retired inspector with DeLuxe Check Printers in Chicago with 20 years of service. She was a homemaker and attended St. Scholastica Catholic Church. McCAULEY, MARY VIRGINIA, 82, of Lecanto, died Thursday (April 10, 2003) at Brentwood Health Care Center in Lecanto. Born in Kentucky, she came here nine years ago from Ocala. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, William V.; three sons, Nash, Cincinnati, Walter S., Fort Lauderdale, and Richard J., Sunnyvale, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Chas. E. ODDY, CHARLES F. SR., 93, of Lecanto, died Tuesday (April 8, 2003) in Lecanto. Born in Whitpain, Pa., he came here in 1974 from Alexandria, Va. He was a retired executive director for an optical company and was a Navy officer and veteran of World War II. He loved dancing. OELRICH, AGNES H., 89, of Inverness, died Thursday (April 10, 2003) in Inverness. Born in Ossian, Iowa, she came here in 1998 from Winter Haven and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Nursing Home Ministry of Nazarene Church of Hernando. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Haines City and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. Survivors include four daughters, Patricia O. Spencer, Gainesville, Audrey O. Mattox, Inverness, Rosemary O. Bottcher, Monticello, and Karen O. OLIVER, ROBERT G., 77, of Homosassa, died Wednesday (April 9, 2003) at home. Born in Lake Forest, Ill., he came here recently from Arizona. He was a carpenter contractor and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion Post 264. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest. Survivors include two sons, David and Paul, both of Homosassa; a sister, Dorothy Humphreys, Asheville, N.C.; six nephews and a niece; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. RISHER, JAMES JR. "BUDDY," 41, of Inglis, died Thursday (April 10, 2003) at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Brooksville, he was a lifetime resident of Inglis. He worked with his father at Risher's Auto Parts and Wrecker Service for 27 years. He was Baptist. Survivors include his daughter, Mercedes Risher, his parents, James V. and Carolyn Risher, and maternal grandmother, Lucille Neeld, all of Inglis; four sisters, Brenda Jensen, Vermont, Jewel Lamb, Crystal River, Alicia Buzbee, Inverness, and Sabrina Cole, Citrus Hills; three nephews; and two nieces. BANDEMER, HOWARD R., 80, of Brooksville, died Wednesday (April 9, 2003) at Evergreen Woods Health Care Center in Spring Hill. Born in Rochester, N.Y., he came here 20 years ago from Chelmsford, Mass. He was owner and operator of a cleaning business and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was an Episcopalian. Survivors include his wife, Florence; four daughters, Barbara J. Cassidy, Brooksville, Catherine A. Shunemann, New Hampshire, Dianna L. Carty and Donna L. Ballard, both of Maine; a son, Richard E., Lynn, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. ENGLE, FLORENCE M., 90, of Brooksville, died Friday (April 11, 2003) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. She came here 25 years ago from her native Battle Creek, Mich. She was a licensed practical nurse, was active in Cloverleaf and was a member of Eastern Star. She was active in the Episcopalian Church Women at Resurrection Church in Michigan and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Brooksville. Survivors include her husband, Clare; a daughter, Sammy Morley, Brooksville; two sons, Norman C., Sugar Grove, N.C., and Theodore L., Seminole; and eight grandchildren. HAUSER, LAWRENCE D., 95, of Brooksville, died Thursday (April 10, 2003) at home. Born in Dubois County, Ind., he came here two years ago from Anderson, Ind. He was a retired factory worker and a member of Central Wesleyan Church of Anderson. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Anderson, Brooksville; a brother, Nelson, Indiana; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. JOHNSON, JOAN MARIE (MONTELEONE), 46, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (April 8, 2003) at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she came here 10 years ago from Queens, N.Y., and was a certified nursing assistant at Brooksville Regional Hospital. She was Catholic. LAMBERT, HARRY S., 66, of Weeki Wachee, died Thursday (April 10, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill. Born in Eagle Lake, he came here five years ago from Sarasota. He retired from IBM in Sarasota with 25 years of service, then worked for Eastman Kodak and Danka Corp. He was a 1955 graduate of Hernando High School, attended the University of Florida and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of Hernando Environmental Land Protectors. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Martha; a son, Daniel D., and his mother, Alice Lambert, all of Brooksville; a brother, Floyd "Chuck", Augusta, Ga.; and a sister, Mary Jo Pennington, Brandon. POMPERTY, ROBERT J. JR., 67, of Spring Hill, died Thursday (April 10, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. He came here one year ago from his native Pittsfield, Mass. He was a retired building commissioner for the city of Pittsfield and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Berkshire Hills Country Club. He was Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Carol; two sons, Robert J. PRICE, JOHN, 93, of Spring Hill, died Monday (April 7, 2003) at Oak Hill Hospital in Spring Hill. Born in Atlantic City, N.J., he came here 27 years ago from Opa-Locka. He was a retired firefighter from Bridgeton, N.J. He was a member of the Northcliffe Baptist Church. SIMPSON, RICHARD L., 73, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday (April 9, 2003) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in Garrett, Ind., he came here in 1990 from Los Angeles. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a radio program director for the Armed Forces Radio and Television. He recently worked at Publix and was a master of ceremonies for the Hernando County Fine Arts. He attended the First Baptist Church of Spring Hill. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Dennis, Crofton, Md., and Reynold, Prairie Village, Kan.; a daughter, Joan Wiseman, Columbia, M.D.; a sister, Virginia Ganz, New London, Ohio; and seven grandchildren. WALTERS, GENEVA, 85, of Spring Hill, formerly of Hudson, St. Petersburg and Weeki Wachee, died Friday (April 11, 2003) at home. She moved to St. Petersburg in 1952 from her native Hudson, then moved to Weeki Wachee in 1977, then moved to Spring Hill in 1998. She was a retired lunchroom cook in St. Petersburg for the Pinellas County School District. She was a member of The Church of Spring Hill. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Miller, Davidson, N.C.; a brother, Raymond Knowles, Flint, Mich.; a sister, Leona Kingsley, Port Richey; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. WHYTE, RAYMOND A., 79, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday (April 9, 2003) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in Kenmore, Canada, he came here in 1987 from Fayson Lakes, N.J. He was an internationally recognized artist who had exhibited in prestigious venues throughout the world. His artworks are in various museums and in noted individual collections such as Malcolm Forbes and J.P. Getty. He is listed in Who's Who in American Art, International Who's Who in Art and Antiques and Dictionary of International Biographers. COOK, JACKIE R., 65, of Tampa, died Thursday (April 10, 2003). Born in Rockwood, Tenn., he moved to the area in 1957. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 25 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. PETTY, THOMAS, 91, of Tampa, died Thursday (April 10, 2003). He was a carpenter and a member of the Local 140 Carpenters Union for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Oddfellows Lodge in Tampa. Survivors include one son, Eugene Petty, Douglas, Ga.; three daughters, Louise Griffin, Nicholls, Ga., Mollie Burkett, West Green, Ga., and Jo Wilhelm, Jacksonville; two stepchildren, Bobby Joe Lee, Lutz, and Betty Locke, Leesburg; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. SADD, ROBERT T., 68, of Tampa, died Wednesday (April 9, 2003). Owner of R.T. Sadd Silversmiths, he was a master craftsman silversmith and artisan. He did restoration work for the Flagler and H.B. Plant museums, and silver-plated the shovel used for the Harbour Island groundbreaking ceremony. He was a founder of the Tampa Pee Wee Football League and the T & C Shimberg Pony Baseball League. SHEPPARD, JOHN A., 76, of Ruskin, died Thursday (April 10, 2003). Born in Cedar Key, he moved to the area in 1944 from Perry. He worked as an electrician and was Baptist. He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 2383, Brandon, and the Loyal Order of the Moose and the VFW, both in Ruskin. McKEE, CHARLES R., 60, of Zephyrhills, died Wednesday (April 9, 2003) in Zephyrhills. He was born in Ironton, Ohio, and was a welder in the railroad industry. He was Baptist. MORRIS, HUGH ROY, 84, of New Port Richey, died Saturday (April 5, 2003) at Orchard Ridge Rehabilitation Center in New Port Richey. He was born in Minneapolis. He was a retired restaurateur and country club manager. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served in the First Division 305th Bomb Group, 264 Wing. He flew 35 missions as a B-17 tail gunner and was awarded numerous medals, including the Purple Heart. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He was a retired self-employed masonry contractor. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Clearwater Country Club and enjoyed playing golf and gin rummy. She was co-owner for 41 years of Fulmer Photo Service in Clearwater. She was a graduate of Clearwater High School in 1940 and a member of First United Methodist Church, Clearwater. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, George L.; a son, George L. "Jerry" Jr., Clearwater; two daughters, Darlene Fulmer Luzin and Janet Fulmer Campbell, both of Clearwater; a sister, Mary Louise Deckard Thomas, Tampa; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was a clerk typist for the Pinellas County Health Department, Clearwater. She was a Red Cross volunteer, a member of American Association of Retired Persons and enjoyed cross stitching.
