GRAY, AUDRE, 86, of Crystal River, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) in Crystal River. Born in Butler, Pa., she came here 12 years ago from Sharon, Pa., and was a retired nursing assistant. GURR, ALLA MAE, 85, of Homosassa, formerly of Tampa, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) in Lecanto. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, she came here in 1989 from Tampa and worked for the Gasparilla Association for 20 years. She was Protestant. Survivors include two sons, Harry, Tampa, and Charles Eden, Odessa; a daughter, Nancy Baldwin, Homosassa; a sister, Mary Ann Bodden, Tampa; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. HARKEY, JEANNIE (KNOWLES) "BETTY," 63, of Crystal River, died Tuesday (June 17, 2003) at the Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River. She came here 38 years ago from her native Lake City. She was a graduate of Lake City High School and earned a nursing degree at the Withlacoochee Vo-Tech Institute in Inverness. She practiced nursing at the Cypress Cove Care Center and the Crystal River Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was a past member of the Citrus LaSertoma. She was Baptist. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Elbert "Lee"; a son, Chris, Crystal River; a brother, Charles "Marty" Knowles, Lake City; several nieces, nephews and cousins. ISABELLE, CARL JOSEPH, 68, of Inverness, died Monday (June 16, 2003) at home after a lengthy illness. Born in Woodside, N.Y., he came to Florida in 1972 from Islip Terrace, N.Y. He was a retired drywall contractor, having owned and operated his own contracting business for more than 40 years. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Lois (Jensen); a daughter, Elaine J. WILDER, GUSS JR., 85, of Hernando, formerly of Clearwater, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) in Hernando. Born in Brooksville, he came here in 1985 from Clearwater. He was the owner of Wilder Funeral Home in Clearwater. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His activities included: Clearwater Masonic Lodge 127; life member of NRA; member of Old Fort Harrison VFW; former president of Clearwater Shrine Club; Egypt Temple Shrine Tampa; and member of First Baptist Church of Inverness. Survivors include his wife, Lucille (White); two sons, Guss Wilder III, Safety Harbor, and R. FALIN, DOROTHY PEARL, 85, of Brooksville, died Friday (June 13, 2003) in Brooksville under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. Born in Horse Creek, W.Va., she came to the area in 1985 from Painesville, Ohio. She was a nurse's assistant in nursing homes and home care. She was a member of the Wide World Church of God in Clearwater. Survivors include four sons, William G., Painesville, John Robert, Jack L. and Darrell D., all of Brooksville; four daughters, Loretta J. Johnson and Lurlene F. Falin, both of Brooksville, Lily M. FORTUNATO, VITO A., 78, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Brooksville. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here in 1985 from Staten Island, N.Y. He was employed by Coca Cola in New York with 30 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and the First United Methodist Church of Spring Hill. HUTCHINSON, FREDERICK S., 89, of Spring Hill, died Thursday (June 12, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Brooksville. Born in Moneague, Jamaica, he came here 12 years ago from Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a self-employed tailor. He was a member of the Afro-American Club of Spring Hill and the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. KOEPKE, JEAN WARE, 84, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) in Spring Hill. Born in New York, she came here 21 years ago from Rosedale, N.Y. She was a retired home economics teacher at the Walton High School in Bronx, N.Y. She was a graduate of both Hunter and Columbia universities and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where she was active with the vacation bible school, the ladies groups and crafts. Survivors include her son, Steven W., Spring Hill. McLEAN, MARGARET H., 95, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) at home. Born in Houlton, Maine, she came here 27 years ago from Caribou, Maine, and was a retired teacher for the Boston school system. She was Christian. WHITT, DELLA ELIZABETH, 95, of Brooksville, died Tuesday (June 17, 2003) at Heron Pointe Health of Brooksville. Born in Virginia, she came here 48 years ago from Radford, Va., and was a homemaker. AMBROSINO, MAJ. FRANK F. JR., age, of Riverview, died Friday (June 13, 2003). He was retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Major. He was a graduate of the University of Tampa and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Salesian Cooperators, Kairos and the Teams of Our Lady, and was Catholic. CAMPBELL, LINDA R., 55, of Tampa, died Monday (June 16, 2003) at home. Born in St. Clair, Mich., she moved to Tampa in 1985 from Denver. She was a graduate of Michigan School of Nursing and received her master's degree in nursing from the University of Colorado. She was vice president for patient care services and chief nursing officer at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute from 1985 to 2001. She was also a volunteer at the Cancer Center and the Tampa Hope Lodge. Survivors include her parents; three sisters, Jean Saunders, St. Clair, Patty Campbell, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Jackie Laughlin, Grand Haven, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. LOZNER, KARL R., 91, of Port Richey, died Friday (June 13, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in New Port Richey. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he lived here over 20 years from Warren, Ohio. He was a supervisor for Mullins Manufacturing, Warren and Salem Plants, with 35 years of service. He served in the 363rd Air Service Group of the Army Air Corps during World War II achieving the rank of technical sergeant. He was a member of the Elks Aerie 2284, Moose Lodge 1429, Eagles 311, American Leigon Post 278 and VFW Post 1090. SAUL, GEORGE JOSEPH JR., 75, of New Port Richey, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in New Port Richey. Born in Springfield, Ill., he came here in 1984 from Tuscola, Ill. He was a miner and head of the safety committee for Ziegler Coal Company, Murdoch, Ill., and a former officer of the United Mine Workers Union. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a prisoner of war in Korea. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose and American Legion. He attended Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. SWONGER, HOWARD LON,79, of Dade City, died Sunday (June 15, 2003) at home. Born in Belfast, Ohio, he came here 35 years ago from Columbus, Ohio. He worked in retail marketing retiring as a senior executive. He served as an Army scout in World War II with "A' Company, 82nd Reconnaissance Battalion, Second Armored Division. He was called back to duty for the Korean War while attending Wilmington College. He remained active with the Second Armored Division Association, VFW, and American Legion. He created two World War II military history Web sites. He and Major Ken Dungey (Ret.) organized the construction of several World War II memorials in France. He was awarded the Medal of the Jubilee of Liberty from the Regional Council of Lower Normandy. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer and loved to buy, renovate and then sell old homes.
