AREND, WILLIAM FRANCIS, 74, of Lecanto, died Monday (Aug. 18, 2003) in Lecanto. Born in Jackson, Mich., he came here three years ago from Stryker, Ohio and was a retired sales engineer. He was a member of the Homosassa Knights of Columbus Council 6954 and St. Scholastica Catholic Church. DELANO, THOMAS FRANCIS "TOM," 60, of Inverness, formerly of New Port Richey, died Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, New Port Richey. Born in Queens, N.Y., he came here 16 years ago from New Port Richey. He was an Army and Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of VFW Post 4337 and DAV Post 70, and a member of Eagles Aeries 3992. He was Catholic. FORNERO, SELMA "SALLY," 87, of Homosassa, died Thursday (Aug. 14, 2003) at home. She came here six years ago from her native Collinsville, Ill. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church of Homosassa. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Crawley, Homosassa, and Judith Covey, Camp Point, Ill.; a son, Roger, Plant City; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. HART, FRED J., 92, of Inverness, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (Aug. 16, 2003) at Citrus Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hungary and moved to St. Petersburg in 1977 from Hempstead, N.Y. He moved to Inverness in 2000. He retired as an electrician for the New York Naval Ship Yard. He was a Navy veteran. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. HOBART, MARILYN A. CHASE, 80, of Inverness, died Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) of Inverness. She was born in Brunswick, Maine. KINDER, CATHERINE VIRGINIA "KATY," 81, of Floral City, died Sunday (Aug. 17, 2003) in Floral City. Born in Gallagher, W.Va., she came here in 1961 from Allen Creek, W.Va. She was a cook at Woody's Bar-B-Que in Floral City. She was Baptist. Survivors include four daughters, Sandra McClure, Floral City, Joan Haag, Tampa, Janet Walters, Inverness, and Ann Corning, Potwin, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. RANSOM, GAIL EILEEN, 65, of Crystal River, died Saturday (Aug. 16, 2003) in Crystal River under the care of her companion and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Riverton, Conn., she came here in 1990 from Pleasant Valley, Conn. She was a commercial wedding cake baker and decorator, and was a charter member of Wahoo Sertoma Cub. She was Christian. Survivors include a son, Tom J. Kennedy, New Hartford, Conn.; three daughters, Alane Kennedy, Loreen Bissell and Sandra Kennedy, all of Winsted, Conn.; a sister, Sharon Ransom, Winsted; three brothers, D. SNOW, RALPH W., 82, of Ocala, formerly of Lecanto, died Sunday (Aug. 17, 2003) in Ocala. Born in Kalamazoo, Mich., he was a seasonal resident of Lecanto in the late 1980s. He moved to Ocala 13 years ago from Brooklyn, Mich. He was a retired dispatcher for City Car Releasing in Detroit with 28 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of VFW Santos Post 4781 Ocala and the Eagles. He was Christian. Survivors include his son, Robert W., Clinton, Mich.; a daughter, Mary Ann Peake, Plainfield, Ill.; a stepson, Alan Prudhomme, Loxahatchee; a stepdaughter, Yvonne Tice, Illinois; several nephews and nieces; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. STRANGE, W.B. "BILL," 69, of Inverness, died Saturday (Aug. 16, 2003) at Citrus Health Center of Inverness after a lengthy illness. Born in Mulberry, he came here in 1966 from the Winter Haven area. He founded W.B. Strange Accounting and Tax more than 33 years ago. He was a graduate of the University of Florida. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Inverness. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Donna; a daughter, Kimberly Strange, Orlando; two brothers, Cecil and Robert, both of Plant City; a sister, Marguerite Stanley, Mulberry; several nieces and nephews. THOMAS, RENZO H. "SHORTY," 73, of Dunnellon, formerly of Palm Harbor, died Sunday (Aug. 17, 2003) at home. Born in Dowling Park, he came to Dunnellon 18 years ago from Palm Harbor, where he lived for 28 years. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the City of Clearwater with 28 years of service. He was a member of Ramsey Bend Hunting Club of Steinhatchee and the Curlew Baptist Church of Palm Harbor. Survivors include his wife, Jeannette; two daughters, D. Renee Nestor, Bentonville, Ark., and Michele J. Burch, Indialantic; two sons, R. Born in Pawtucket, R.I., he came here nine years ago from Seekonk, Mass., and was a radiology administrator. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was Protestant. KARCH-KICKA, LOUISE M., 92, of Bethlehem, Pa., formerly of Masaryktown, died Sunday (Aug. 10, 2003) at Manor Care Health in Bethlehem. She was born in Czechoslovakia and had lived in Masaryktown for 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Masaryktown. LYNCH, ADDA MAE, 88, of Ridge Manor, died Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) at Kindred Hospital in Tampa. Born in Promise City, Iowa, she came here in 1971 from Boone, Iowa. She was a retired bookkeeper and former president of Ridge Manor Community Center. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Survivors include her son, James, Fayetteville, Ga. MALTBY, MAXINE L. "MICKEY," 81, of Weeki Wachee, died Saturday (Aug. 16, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Brooksville. She came to Florida 20 years ago from her native Clinton, Ill. She was the retired owner of Maxine's Beauty Shop in Clinton. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, active with their Backyard Bible Club for Children, participated in Bible studies and the various women's groups. Survivors include her husband, James A.; three sons, James William, Mahomet, Ill., Gerald Wayne, Taylorville, Ill., and John Wesley, Carlisle, Iowa; two brothers, W.R. She was a social work supervisor for the state of Florida. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Largo. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women. She was a member of The Clearwater Parliamentarians, Pinecrest Women's Golf Association, United Daughters of the Confederacy Mary Curtis Chapter. She was a fifth generation member of the Huckabay family, who were Pasco County pioneers. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Richard A.; a son, Richard Andrew Jr., Largo; a daughter, Catherine Ann Brown, St Augustine; and two grandchildren. She was a nutritionist with the UVM Extension of the state of Vermont. She was a Navy WAVES veteran, and member of the VFW and American Legion, both of New Port Richey. MONTIE, ROBERT W., 55, of New Port Richey, died Sunday (Aug. 17, 2003) at home. He came here in 2001 from his native Shenandoah, Pa. He was a welder and member of the United Autoworkers Union. He was a member of the 500 Fish and Game Club. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; a son, Robert, Palm Harbor; his mother, Ruth Montie, Auburndale; two brothers, Paul, South Point, Ohio, and Ray, Auburndale; and one grandchild. SHYMANSKI, ANTHONY T., 82, of New Port Richey, died Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in New Port Richey. He came here 30 years ago from his native Detroit. He was a retired foreman with Ford Motor Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He served under Gen. George Patton. He was a member of the Purple Heart Association, VFW Post 184, American Legion Paradise Post, Ford Motor Club and Moose. He was Protestant. Weber Co. and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Spring Hill American Legion and Masonic Lodge. GLADSON, DONALD M., 82, of Clearwater, died Tuesday (Aug. 12, 2003) at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served 27 months as a chief motor machinist mate on the USS Gustafson. He was a charter member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association. - BROWN, GARY LINDEN, 62, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Aug. 15, 2003) at home. He was born in Little Rock, Ark., and came here in 1969 from Orlando. He served in the Army and retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in aerospace engineering from Georgia Technical Institute. He was a senior project engineer for Honeywell in Clearwater since 1969. He was named the 1979 Engineer of the Year by American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Tampa Bay Section. He was an active member of the PTA and Band Boosters at Azalea Elementary, Azalea Middle and Boca Ciega High schools. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Tennis League, a baseball coach for Azalea Little League, was active with the Boy Scouts of America and was a volunteer tutor in the Pinellas County Schools. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was involved in Friends of Strays. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Patricia W.; four sons, Gary L.
