NEW PORT RICHEY - A truck loaded with containers of chlorine overturned on State Road 54 east of Little Road on Friday morning.

Its driver, Howard W. Anthony, told authorities he was headed west when a deer ran into his path.

Anthony, 54, of 9054 Robin Nest Drive in Hudson swerved hard to the left, lost control and crashed through a raised concrete median in the center of SR 54, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The truck overturned and came to rest in the center of the eastbound lane. Pasco County Fire Rescue workers, who got the call just after 5 a.m., contained the chlorine, which spilled onto the road. Anthony was treated for minor injuries, the report said.
