ORLANDO - Central Florida's Dexter Lyons scored 17 and the Golden Knights continued their best start in more than 20 years by beating Georgia State 70-60 on Saturday night.

UCF (8-2, 3-0 Atlantic Sun) shot 49 percent and sank 10 3-pointers, one short of its season high, in 22 attempts. Lyons broke it open with back-to-back 3-pointers midway through the second half for a 52-35 lead.

UCF soon opened a 21-point advantage, and Georgia State (6-4, 1-2) rallied too late.

Former Dunedin High standout Josh Bodden added 15 points and eight rebounds, and Gary Johnson had 10 points and six assists.

The last time the Knights had eight wins in their first 10 games was 1981-82, when they competed at the Division II level.

Georgia State was led by Lamont McIntosh's 16 points. Trello Galloway had 14.

MIAMI 105, SAVANNAH ST. 65: Darius Rice scored 25 and the host Hurricanes extended their winning streak to a season-best five.

Robert Hite had 19 points and a game-high five steals for the Hurricanes (10-3), who had their best scoring effort since beating Savannah State 107-98 on March 2, 1989 - a span of 409 games.

COPPIN ST. 59, FAMU 55: In a game with eight ties and 10 lead changes, Nicholas King had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the host Eagles.

Jimmy Boykin added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles, who made 19-of-52 shots (36.5 percent). The Rattlers (1-9) were led by Demarcus Wilkins, who had 18 points, including three 3-pointers. Florida A&M made 20-of-65 shots (30.8 percent).

FAU 90, MERCER 72: Kahleaf Watson scored 18 and the host Owls shot 89.5 percent from the field over the final 11:27.

Watson had eight of his points during a 20-3 run over a six-minute stretch of the second half as Florida Atlantic (6-4, 3-0 Atlantic Sun) turned a two-point deficit into a 78-63 lead with four minutes left.

The Owls, who made 19 of their first 47 shots, made 17 of their last 19 to seal it.

ARKANSAS ST. 55, FIU 46: J.J. Montgomery scored 22 and Kim Adams had 17 rebounds, leading the visiting Indians.

ROLLINS 68, ECKERD 65 (OT): The host Tars won their ninth straight in their SSC opener. Rollins (10-2) overcame a 41-34 halftime deficit by limiting the Tritons (7-5) to 18 points and 26 percent shooting (7-for-27) in the second half.

Rollins made 5-of-8 free throws in the extra period. Rollins senior forward Chad Dricks found a cutting Nate Rusbosin underneath the basket for the tying score at 59 to send the game to overtime.

LIPSCOMB 73, STETSON 66: Russell Hankins and Jason Jackson each scored 14 for the host Bisons at Allen Arena. The loss spoiled a 26-point performance from E.J. Gordon as the Hatters (2-6) dropped their sixth in a row.

TAMPA 71, BARRY 59: Achille Ngounou's fifth double double (12 points, 11 rebounds) led the host Spartans.

BELMONT, 70, JACKSONVILLE 54: Steve Drabyn scored 15, all on 3-pointers, for the host Bruins. Belmont had an 18-5 run capped by Josh Goodwin's 3-pointer with 56 seconds left in the first half.
