BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - David Hawkins scored 23, including 17 in the first half, as Temple beat Indiana 59-50 Saturday for its first road victory of the season.

The Owls (4-5) built a 13-point lead in the opening half, held the Hoosiers scoreless more than five minutes at the start of the second half and withstood a late rally that four times brought Indiana (6-5) within five.

Hawkins fouled out with less than a minute to go, and a 3-point basket by Marshall Strickland cut Temple's lead to 55-50 with 26 seconds left. The Owls, whose last 13 points came on free throws, finished the scoring with four free throws by Dustin Salisbury.

Mardy Collins added 14 points and Salisbury and Tyreek Byard added seven apiece. Bracey Wright led the Hoosiers with 15 and Strickland finished with 10.
