AUSTIN, Texas - Jamie Carey is finding the touch on her 3-point shot just in time for No. 3 Texas to begin defense of its Big 12 title.
Carey scored 17 and hit a season-high five 3-pointers Saturday, and the Longhorns shook off New Mexico 92-47 in their final tuneup before the start of conference play.
The Longhorns' 26-game home winning streak is the longest in the nation after No. 1 Connecticut's 69-game streak was snapped with a loss to No. 4 Duke.
Carey had struggled to find her stroke this season before hitting three times as Texas opened a 46-16 halftime lead.
Carey was a 42 percent 3-point shooter last season but had seen her numbers dip to 37 percent through the first 11 games. She spent the holiday week launching shot after shot in practice.
"I've been in the gym a lot lately this past week," Carey said. "People just got me the ball in good places and I hit them."
Tiffany Jackson added 17 points and nine rebounds for Texas (12-1), which used runs of 11-0 and 21-4 in the first half to build a big lead.
NO. 6 MINN. 63, S. CAROLINA 53: Lindsay Whalen scored 24 to surpass 2,000 for her career, and the host Goldern Gophers remained undefeated. She became the third Minnesota player to reach that mark when she converted a twisting layup and the ensuing free throw for a three-point play with 8:27 remaining.
Iva Sliskovic led South Carolina (8-4) with 15 points.
NO. 8 LA. TECH 63, TULSA 60: Senior Trina Frierson led all scorers with 20 to help the visiting Techsters survive a scare.
NO. 13 COLORADO 98, BUFFALO 47: Kate Fagan made seven of the host Buffaloes' school-record 16 3-pointers and scored 24. Tera Bjorklund added 16 points, Amber Metoyer and Emily Waner 12 each and Leslie Howard 11 for Colorado (11-1).
NO. 20 DePAUL 70, N. ILLINOIS 60: Khara Smith scored 24, leading four visiting Blue Demons in double figures. Joi Scott led the Huskies with 17 points.
