PORT RICHEY - The owner of Frosty Mug bar in Hudson was jailed on suspicion of DUI, fleeing to elude and resisting arrest early Sunday after nearly hitting a Pasco County sheriff's cruiser, according to a Sheriff's Office report.
William M. Coke, 50, of 7129 Gordon Road, Port Richey, was pulling onto U.S. 19 from Dunkin' Donuts, shortly after midnight and crossed in front of the cruiser, which was traveling south on the highway. The deputy was forced to brake to avoid a collision, the report said. Coke failed to stop when the deputy flashed his emergency lights and continued toward his home, the report said.
Coke stopped his truck at a dead end just past his home and tried to flee on foot, the report said. He was forced to the ground by a deputy and resisted when the deputy tried to use handcuffs, the report said. Coke refused to submit to field sobriety tests and a breath test, the report said. The deputy planned to subpoena records from a hospital where Coke was taken. Coke told the deputy that he had been drinking rum that night, the report said.
Coke was released Monday from the county jail on $11,000 bail and will face a later court date for the charges.
