EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Patrik Elias set up the tying goal late in the third period and scored on a deflection 41 seconds into overtime to give the slumping Devils a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.

Turner Stevenson and Sergei Brylin also scored and Martin Brodeur made 23 saves to help the Devils win for only the second time in seven games (2-2-2-1).

Edmonton had a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1) and a three-game road winning streak snapped.

Elias set up the tying goal by stopping a clearing pass at the blue line and wristing a shot toward the net that Brylin deflected past Tommy Salo. Scott Gomez did all the work on the winner, skating the puck through center ice and taking a shot from the right faceoff circle. Elias got his stick on the shot, and it went right past the goaltender.

BLUES 1, WILD 1: Minnesota's Dwayne Roloson gave up a goal in the opening minute, then shut out host St. Louis the rest of the way. Mark Rycroft scored at the 29-second mark of the first period for the Blues and Andrei Zyuzin tied it midway through the second period. The rest was all goaltenders as Roloson and Chris Osgood of St. Louis made 23 saves apiece.

Doug Weight got an assist for his 800th career point for St. Louis, moving him one point ahead of teammate Keith Tkachuk. Weight has 219 goals and 581 assists, reaching the milestone in 839 games. Tkachuk has 417 goals and 382 assists in 813 games, but failed to score for the first time in 14 games.

RED WINGS 6, PREDATORS 0: Curtis Joseph made 26 saves for his 43rd career shutout, and Jason Woolley and Kris Draper scored twice each for host Detroit. Detroit beat Nashville for the first time this season after losing the first three against the Predators. It was Joseph's second shutout of the season.

FLAMES 5, RANGERS 0: Jamie McLennan made 36 saves for his second shutout in four starts to lead Calgary to its fifth straight road victory. Andrew Ference scored two goals and set up another, and Jarome Iginla had a goal and two assists for Calgary, which snapped a three-game winless streak. The Flames are 9-5-0-2 on the road.

MAPLE LEAFS 5, PENGUINS 0: Joe Nieuwendyk scored a goal and set up another, and visiting Toronto avoided a letdown against the NHL's lowest-points team. Nieuwendyk, Tie Domi and Alexei Ponikarovsky had multiple-point games to support Trevor Kidd's first shutout in more than two years, helping the Maple Leafs halt a four-game winless streak. Leafs goaltender Ed Belfour sat out with a leg injury sustained Sunday in practice.

SHARKS 2, CANUCKS 1: Patrick Marleau scored with 38.6 seconds left in the third period to lift visiting San Jose. Marleau pounced on a turnover just inside the Vancouver blue line and beat Dan Cloutier with a 25-foot wrist shot. Vancouver outshot the Sharks 38-17, but couldn't solve Vesa Toskala, who started his second straight game after No. 1 goalie Evgeni Nabokov left the team to attend a funeral in Toronto.

MAPLE LEAFS: Forward Owen Nolan (nine goals, 19 assists) had laser surgery to repair a torn retina in his left eye. He was high-sticked by the Sabres' Jay McKee on Saturday.

THRASHERS: Defenseman Andy Sutton (broken foot) and wing Bill Lindsay (fractured larynx) were put on injured reserve. Sutton is out indefinitely and Lindsay is out for the season.
