DUNEDIN - Two Clearwater kayakers were rescued Friday in separate incidents offshore by the same sailboater, authorities said.

Rough water and brisk winds overwhelmed both men, who were rescued at 1:13 p.m. and 2:24 p.m., respectively, according to Scott Magness, Dunedin deputy fire chief. Authorities said an unidentified man piloting a 24-foot sailboat pulled both men from the water and brought them to shore after their kayaks swamped.

Authorities did not release the men's names. The first victim, 52, was treated at the scene and released, Magness said. The second man, 57, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
