Bill Nye not required

home.houston.rr.com/molerat/cat.htm

I wish I had a penchant for science as a kid and not one for taking things apart. But if your kids have a talent for either, point them at this site. It's jammed with kid-friendly science, but some experiments need adult supervision - unless you've got good home insurance and don't mind buying a new one.

Something to dwell on

www.FabPrefab.com/

Stereotypes happen for a reason. The idea of a mobile, or prefab, home sometimes conjures up visions of smooth and curvy (like an Airstream) or boxy (like everything else). But it doesn't have to be that way. Wander through the gallery section and tell me that the Swissmade smallhouse isn't drop-dead gorgeous. Ditto with the fun Loftcube, the Dockable Dwelling and the oh-so-shiny Turbulence House. If I had somewhere to put one, I'd be all over these.

Handy

www.PalmSource.com/expertguides/

Maybe you got a PDA for the holidays. And now that you've got your phone numbers and calendar organized, perhaps you're itching to do other cool things with it. If the PDA is Palm-based, here is an excellent resource for extending the beast to do other useful things. Maybe you want to play games or perhaps you're a genealogy fanatic. There's something for almost every lifestyle here. What's nice about this guide is it doesn't just push Palm-branded products, and much of what's available is free.

Cool clothing

www.VintageHawaiianShirt.net/cottonT2.html

Before you know it, it'll be 90 degrees again and time to break out the loose-fitting cotton garments. Here's a collection of interesting shirt-shaped eye candy that shows off some splendid examples of the Hawaiian variety. Some are vintage, others are $15 purchases from places such as JC Penney. But all have that certain something that makes for a great, stylish experience.

Bolly, by golly

BollyWhat.com/

Consider New Wave, the Beatles, the Macarena and Rubik's Cubes. All are foreign imports that washed up on our shores and held our collective attentions for either years or what felt like years. So, I wonder aloud, could Bollywood follow the same path? Bollywood is India's version of our Hollywood and is akin to the early days when low budget films were cranked out at a furious pace. It's still wildly popular in the United Kingdom and, keeping with the old-fashioned theme, the films are often innocent and tons of fun. If Bollywood isn't on your radar, this site will get you up to speed.
