Q. I installed a program called Quick Video WEE Cam by Alaris, version 1.25. The program works fine, but to do video conferencing, they advised downloading Microsoft NetMeeting. I did that, but received this message at end of download: "Advanced INF Install Error creating process A. This is a known problem and can be caused by a damaged or missing Regsvr32.exe file or Ils.dll file. This is Microsoft's recommended fix: * Click Start, then Run. In the Open box, type sfc.exe, and click OK to start the System File Checker utility. * In the Select an Option and Click Start dialog window, click Extract one file from installation disc. Type regsvr32.exe, and click Start. * In the Restore From box, type the path to the CD-ROM drive. (If your CD-ROM is drive D, type d:\win98). * In the Save file in box, type c:\windows\system, then click OK. Quit the System File Checker. To rename the Ils.dll file, do this: * Click Start, Find, then Files or Folders. * In the Find Files dialog box, under Named, type Ils.dll, and click Find Now. * After the file is found, right-click Ils.dll and click Rename. * Rename the file to Ils.old, and close the Find Files dialog box. Now, reinstall NetMeeting. Two unrelated problems Q. I have a problem printing anything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice but it does not seem to help. My Panasonic KX-FLM 551 laser printer flashes PC Printing, but nothing happens. An error message shows up when I shut down that says, "Annclist has caused an error in KERNEL32.DDL." How can I fix this? When I reboot my computer it always says I have printing waiting. I click Yes, but nothing happens. A. If this is a printer that has suddenly stopped working, I would check the cable connection and try switching with a parallel cable that you know works. Of course, you could have a bad parallel port, but this is unlikely. If possible, try connecting the printer to another PC and install the drivers. If you get the same results, it may be that the printer is broken. Repairs are usually not worth the money. You may be looking for a new laser printer. As for your other problem (and I don't think its related), Annclist is a Microsoft Windows file related to Web TV. You will find it listed under TV viewer in the startup items. You can delete it from there if you don't need it. Otherwise, you will need to extract a fresh copy from the Windows installation CD. You will need to replace one of two files, whichever is displayed in your error message, either annclist.exe or annclist.fil. To extract the new copies, do this: * Click Start, Run and type in SFC and click OK. * Select Extract One File, then type in ANNCLIST.EXE (or whichever one is listed in the error message). * Click Start, which will open the extract file window. * Restore from: D:\win98 (d: is your CD-rom drive letter) or wherever this file is listed on your CD. * Save file in: c:\program files\tvviewer Click OK until it tells you that the file has been successfully extracted. Then reboot the computer.
