Night of cooling off forecast for rematch

Neither coach seems worried heading into the first Wildcats-Cobras meeting since a brawl-shortened game Dec. 10.

HUDSON - A rematch of this season's most heated boys soccer game looms, but both coaches insist there is no bad blood between Hudson and Wesley Chapel.

A fight marred a scoreless tie between the Class 4A, District 10 rivals Dec. 10 at Wesley Chapel. The rematch is 8 p.m. Friday at Cobra Stadium.

"We had some tough games with them last year and there was never any bad blood," said Wesley Chapel coach Brian Dorkowski, whose team tied Hudson once and lost twice, including the district final, last season.

Added Hudson coach Ron Ladimir, "It's not going to be revenge for either team. It should be a good game."

Hudson's Bielski twins, Marshall and Matt, and Wesley Chapel's Gabe Montelongo had a skirmish in the Dec. 10 game. Marshall Bielski got a red card and was ejected for a head-butt on Montelongo after he joined a tussle between his brother and the Wesley Chapel midfielder.

The Bielski brothers have since been suspended for the season.

"It was just one little incident," Ladimir said. "I don't think there will be any problems (in Friday's rematch). It should be a good game."

At the time, Dorkowski was furious that the contest was called by referees with about 10 minutes left. Dorkowski felt Wesley Chapel, playing with a man advantage after Marshall Bielski's red card, would likely have won.

Dorkowski's ire has ebbed with time.

"Of course, there was a fight, there was a red card," Dorkowski said. "But I think it was more the Hudson players and the coaches getting upset with the officiating."
