TORONTO - Robert Esche made 35 saves as the Flyers completed a home-and-home series sweep of the Maple Leafs 4-0 on Saturday.

Philadelphia beat Toronto 4-1 on Friday and has outscored it 21-3 in their past four meetings. The Flyers eliminated the Leafs in the first round last season and have won five consecutive regular-season games against them.

Toronto's Ed Belfour, pulled in the first Friday after allowing three goals on 12 shots, allowed four on 24 Saturday.

But the defense let him down. Bryan Marchment allowed Todd Fedoruk to skate from behind the net and put the puck between Belfour's legs 9:22 in. Bryan McCabe turned it over beside the net before Michal Handzus made it 2-0 nine minutes into the second.

Philadelphia lost defenseman Eric Desjardins when he broke his right arm colliding with teammate Jeremy Roenick. He will miss 6-8 weeks.

DEVILS 2, CAPITALS 1 (OT): Patrik Elias scored his fourth overtime goal this season, tying the league record of teammate Scott Niedermayer and Toronto's Mats Sundin, for host New Jersey. Elias tied it 46 seconds into the second on a power play. In overtime, he put in a rebound of Brian Rafalski's shot.

PREDATORS 2, OILERS 1: Scott Walker had a goal and an assist for host Nashville, which extended its unbeaten streak to six (4-0-2). Walker's shot from the far side of the right circle deflected in off a defender for a 1-0 lead in the second. Greg Johnson made it 2-0 with a short-handed goal 8:28 into the third.

SHARKS 2, AVALANCHE 1: Nils Ekman's winner came 15 seconds into the third for visiting San Jose, which ended Colorado's four-game win streak and is 10-2-1-1 in its past 14. After a turnover, Alexander Korolyuk passed from the left corner to Ekman in the slot. The Avalanche played without Peter Forsberg, a late scratch with a groin injury.

ISLANDERS 4, SABRES 2: Kenny Jonsson had a goal and an assist for New York, which has won nine of 11 at home. The Islanders scored on both ends of an early two-man advantage for a 2-0 lead. Cliff Ronning scored at 3:45 on a 40-footer, and Jonsson fired a one-timer from the right point at 5:27.

SENATORS 4, BRUINS 0: Martin Havlat had two goals and two assists for host Ottawa, which ended Boston's seven-game unbeaten streak. Havlat and Wade Redden scored 1:17 apart in the second to make it 2-0.

RANGERS 2, CANADIENS 2: Alexei Kovalev scored with 5:06 left for visiting New York, which earned a point in its fifth in a row (2-0-2-1). Kovalev took Eric Lindros' pass from the boards behind the goal line and beat Jose Theodore through the legs from the edge of the crease. Montreal had a power play for the final 1:38 of overtime, but Pierre Dagenais hit the post and Mike Dunham sprawled to deny Michael Ryder.

BLUES 2, WILD 2 (OT): Doug Weight scored a power-play goal with 1:37 left for host St. Louis. With goalie Chris Osgood pulled for a six-on-four advantage, Weight put in a rebound of Pavol Demitra's shot from the point.

Devils captain out indefinitely

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - New Jersey captain and defenseman Scott Stevens confirmed he has post-concussion syndrome and will be out indefinitely. Stevens, 39, who hasn't played since Jan. 7, said he does not know when the concussion occurred.

STARS: Center Mike Modano was activated from the injured list. He missed six games with a groin injury.

TRADES: The Canucks sent defenseman Jiri Slegr to Boston for future considerations. In his 10th season, Slegr has been a healthy scratch 30 times, recording two goals and five assists in 16 games. ... Phoenix acquired defenseman Todd Reirden from Anaheim for future considerations and sent him to Springfield of the AHL. In 176 games with Edmonton, St. Louis and Atlanta, he has 11 goals and 33 assists.
