Along Came Polly
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Reuben Feffer (Ben Stiller) is a New York risk analyst - basically a professional worrier - who has just married the woman of his dreams, Lisa Kramer (Debra Messing). But she gets a little too frisky with the scuba instructor during their honeymoon in St. Barts. She decides to stay on the island and live out her romance with the French scuba guy, and Reuben heads back to the States. In the midst of his grieving, he runs into an oddball friend from junior high named Polly Prince (Jennifer Aniston). As their relationship heats up and Reuben struggles to deal with Polly's quirks, Lisa returns with a heavy heart. Reuben uses his analytical talents to weigh the pros and cons of a future with each woman. The result is less than desirable.
My view: This one is a riot! It won't be hard to lose yourself in the hysterical laughter this film undoubtedly will set off. Stiller's performance is of the caliber of that in Meet the Parents; his physical comedy dishes up lots of laughs. He is not the sole source of the humor, though; the jokes come at you from every direction. This film thrives on gross-out humor, and it's not for the fainthearted. It will definitely be offensive to some, but Along Came Polly is 90 minutes of unadulterated fun.
Recommendations: The rating is quite appropriate because of the movie's overall crudeness. But Stiller fans will leave happy, and the supporting cast should attract an even wider audience. Catch this one; it's definitely worth a look.
