The investigation into the death of Michael Wachholtz, one of two 26-year-old men who went missing from the Tampa area last month, has detectives at a loss.
So the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office recently made Wachholtz's death investigation the centerpiece of the department home page, www.hcso.tampa.fl.us in hopes that a few helpful clues will come in.
"We're at a loss for leads," said sheriff's spokesman Lt. Rod Reder.
Wachholtz and Jason Galehouse were reported missing after Dec. 20. They didn't know each other, but members of the gay community fear they are the victims of targeted foul play.
Galehouse is still missing. Wachholtz's body was found Jan. 6, in a 1992 maroon Jeep Cherokee at Camden Bay Pointe Apartments in Town 'N Country.
The Sheriff's Office home page now features a picture of Wachholtz under the header Unsolved Homicide: Can You Help? His picture alternates with shots of the Jeep Cherokee and a cell phone similar in make and model to one Wachholtz carried.
An updated press release on the Web site reveals for the first time that Wachholtz had a camera cell phone from AT&T Wireless that was blue, a Nokia model 3650.
