Team pop trivia

By GINA VIVINETTO
Published January 22, 2004

This week's winner: Angeline C. Martrucci of Port Richey knew that drummer Gene Krupa parted ways from the Benny Goodman Orchestra after it was decided Krupa was getting too much attention for his flashy drum solos.

This week's question: Sting, who is in our neighborhood next week, got his start in The Police in the 1970s. In the song Don't Stand So Close to Me, he refers to a famous work of literature (written in English) by a Russian author. To enter your name in the random drawing for the Weekend T-shirt, tell us both the name of the author and the work Sting is referencing.

Fax entries to Team Pop Trivia, 727 892-2327, e-mail gina@sptimes.com or mail to: Team Pop Trivia, c/o Weekend, St. Petersburg Times, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg, FL 33731.
