EDMONTON - Lightning defenseman Dan Boyle had two goals and four assists in 10 games entering Thursday against the Oilers. Left wing Ruslan Fedotenko had four goals and two assists.
Good news for Tampa Bay.
"It's important to our whole second half that Dan Boyle and Rusty step up," coach John Tortorella said.
After achieving career bests last season of 13 goals and 53 points, and signing a two-year, $5.05-million contract, Boyle had just four goals and 17 points before facing Edmonton.
Fedotenko was expected to score at least 20, but had eight.
Fedotenko, who had goals in consecutive games against the Avalanche and Canucks, said it helps playing consistently with center Vinny Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis.
"You have more ice time and more chances to score," Fedotenko said. "I feel good. Sometimes the puck bounces my way. You can't complain."
Boyle, who had a goal and assist against Vancouver, said he has felt a difference in his game.
"The last 10 games is probably the best I've felt all year," he said. "I always want to do more. I expect a lot of myself." REUNION: Left wing Chris Dingman, an Edmonton native, said he had about 20 family and friends in the crowd. Funny thing about Dingman: An Oilers fan growing up, he was drafted and played for the hated Flames.
"It was a big joke when I got drafted," Dingman said. "My buddies are still Oilers fans so when I came into town they cheered for me and still booed the rest of them."
Dingman had not played in Edmonton since the 2000-01 season, when he was with the Avalanche.
"I don't get to come here much anymore," he said. "So when I do it's pretty special."
ODDS AND ENDS: Pavel Kubina's assist Wednesday was the 100th of his career and ended a 19-game stretch without a point. ... Vancouver's Dan Cloutier was the 150th goalie on which Dave Andreychuk scored. ... Alexander Svitov, Andre Roy and Darren Rumble were scratched.
