STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Kelly Mazzante hit six 3-pointers and scored 29 to lead No. 7 Penn State to a 75-56 come-from-behind victory over No. 9 Minnesota on Thursday night.
One of those 3-pointers came as the Nittany Lions (14-3, 7-0 Big Ten) opened the second half with a 15-3 run, going up 49-37 on Jess Strom's layup with 14:15 left.
Mazzante's other basket during that run, a steal and layup, gave her 2,614 career points and moved her past Calbert Cheaney as the Big Ten's career scoring leader. Cheaney finished his career at Indiana in 1993 with 2,613 points. Mazzante has 2,623.
The Golden Gophers (15-2, 4-2) pulled within 49-47 after consecutive three-point plays by Janel McCarville and Lindsay Whalen but couldn't get any closer.
NO. 1 DUKE 78, MARYLAND 48: Iciss Tillis broke out of a scoring slump with 21 points, and the host Blue Devils (15-1, 6-0) won their 49th straight ACC game. Freshman Shay Doron scored 17 to lead the Terrapins (12-6, 4-3).
NO. 2 UT 79, VANDY 54: Shyra Ely scored 22 as the Volunteers (15-1, 5-0 SEC) won their 50th straight home game in league play. The Commodores (14-3, 2-2) lost their fifth straight to Tennessee and dropped to 0-19 in Knoxville.
NO. 8 PURDUE 74, OHIO ST. 68: Shereka Wright scored 23 as the visiting Boilermakers (15-2, 5-1 Big Ten) built a 40-23 first-half lead, then hung on as the Buckeyes (10-6, 2-3) stormed back.
NO. 12 LSU 73, ARKANSAS 65: Seimone Augustus scored six of her 22 in a 13-0 run in the final 3:53 for the visiting Tigers (16-2, 4-0 SEC). The Razorbacks (13-4, 2-2) led by 16 2:46 into the second half before LSU rallied.
NO. 13 UNC 63, GA. TECH 56: Freshman Ivory Latta scored 18 for the host Tar Heels (15-2, 5-1 ACC), including two free throws to put the game out of reach. North Carolina was up 57-56 with 2:17 left after Megan Isom hit a 3-pointer for the Yellow Jackets (10-8, 1-5).
OLE MISS 90, NO. 17 UGA 79 (2OT): Amber Watts had 20 points and 13 rebounds, and the host Rebels (12-7, 3-2 SEC) held the Bulldogs (13-5, 2-3) to two points in the second overtime.
NO. 20 MICH. ST. 67, NU 57 (OT): Lindsay Bowden had 18 points, and the visiting Spartans (14-3, 4-2 Big Ten) outscored the Wildcats (7-10, 0-6) 14-4 in overtime.
NO. 22 AUBURN 70, ALABAMA 61: Le'Coe Willingham had 17 points and 17 rebounds as the host Tigers (14-4, 2-2 SEC) gave coach Joe Ciampi his 599th career win. Auburn hit 12 of 14 free throws down the stretch to seal the win over the Crimson Tide (10-7, 2-2).
