VALRICO - Chamberlain's Adam Jessup faced Bloomingdale's Steve Matamoros at 152 pounds in a dual match Thursday.
It was the first individual match of the night, and Matamoros recorded a 16-3 major decision, giving the Bulls their only victory of the night until the final match.
The Chiefs forfeited at 103 pounds but won all but one of the other classes for a 57-15 victory.
A blind draw determined the order of matches, starting with the 152-pound bout.
Both teams are young. Chamberlain started two seniors and Bloomingdale four.
One of the better matches of the night was at 160 between Chamberlain's Antonio White and Jacob Gardner. Neither wrestler could take control, and White led 4-3 after two periods.
With a reversal in the closing period, White recorded a 6-3 decision in a match that was closer than the score indicated.
Bloomingdale 145-pounder Josh Wilson pinned Patrick Spano in 1:12 for the Bulls' second victory.
Chris Smith (112), Michael White (135), Ricardo Topham (140), Travis Corsell (171), Andrew Gardana (189) and Garrett Gibbons (275) recorded pins for the Chiefs.
The victory improved the Chiefs to 14-3 in duals while Bloomingdale fell to 5-4.
"Sometimes, the score doesn't always indicate what really went on in a match," Chamberlain coach Jeff Duncan said. "Bloomingdale is always tough, and this year they are a young team, just like us. We have a pretty good mix of a few good wrestlers and a few good athletes.
"Hopefully, they will all improve in the next few weeks as we get ready for districts."
